Tabor Film Festival, the international short film festival, will take place in 4 different locations castle of Veliki Tabor (Desinić), Kumrovec, Zabok and Klanjec. It is supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and organized by GOKUL association with the assistance of the Museums of Hrvatsko Zagorje, Krapina-Zagorje County, city of Kumrovec, Zabok and Klanjec, associations Metulji and Udarnik from Slovenia; and other public and private partners.

a) International jury will present the Tabor Film Festival awards to:

Grand Prix for the best film of the festival (+1000€)
Best animation (+250€)
Best documentary (+250€)
Best experimental (+250€)
Best fiction (+250€)
b) Domestic jury will present award for

Best domestic film (+500€)
We will also hand out the Audience award (+ 250€). Awards include festival trophies (“Veronika’s Skull”, “reAnimated Veronika”, “Vox Veronika”) and cash prizes.

c) Children competition with kids’ jury

Apart from competitions, the festival also includes retrospective short film programmes, film workshops, music programmes, various exhibitions…

Entry requirements

You can send us any type of film (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental) completed after January 1st, 2010.
Selected films will be requested in the screening format specified on their entry form. Films of 30 minutes or less are eligible.

Entry procedures and selection

Participants must enter their films on the Festival’s web site, print out (and sign) the form that will be generated after on-line registration. The form for International competition must be received at the Festival office by April 1st, 2012 at the latest, with a DVD (in any of the PAL, SECAM or NTSC formats).

If the original film or video is in a language other than English, then film should be subtitled in English.

One or more stills from the film and a photo of the director, with permission for their use, must be sent via Festival’s web site. Film registration will only be valid upon reception of these documents, on April 1st, 2012 for International, and for Domestic competition.
DVD’s must be sent:

by mail (specify “no commercial value – for cultural purposes”)
or EMS (DHL, Federal Express, UPS…) for a declared value of less than 15 € or US$ 15. to the postal address below
The list of the selected films will be available on the Festival’s web site from June 1st, 2012.

Shipping of the films

Screening prints (Digi Beta or BETA SP PAL) of selected films must be sent to the Festival office by mail or by courier service (DHL, Federal Express…). Film prints must arrive at the Festival office on June 20th, 2012.
NOTE: We prefer if you sent us MPEG video files, to upload on our server or we could download from your server.

Television broadcasting and the Internet

Participation in the Festival implies giving Croatian and foreign television channels the right to broadcast extracts of the film. This regulation applies equally for the Internet.

Post-festival screenings

Participation in the Festival implies giving the Festival rights for post-festival screenings until the end of the year.

Return of film prints and shipping

Prints will be returned after the festival in August 2012. DVD’s will be kept in the Festival archive. Shipping costs must be paid by the applicant, but return expenses will be covered by the Festival.

Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen invites visual and media artists, art critics, theorists, and curators to apply for a fellowship in 2012–2013. Candidates can apply for one semester (October 1, 2012 – February 15, 2013 or February 18, 2013 - June 28, 2013). The fellowship can be split across two semesters.

Institution
Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is a post-graduate center for production, research, exchange in the fields of visual arts and art theory. Within the framework of the International Fellowship Program for Art and Theory, the Künstlerhaus provides a platform that facilitates the development and production of artistic and art-theoretical projects in a critical context. At the same time, Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen offers a forum for direct exchange between professionals – artists, theoreticians, critics, and curators – from the region and abroad, as well as a point of interaction with local interested audiences. Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is affiliated with the Tyrolean Artists' Association, the major association of visual artists from the region.

Büchsenhausen brings together two programs under one roof. On the one hand, it is the site of the International Fellowship Program for Art and Theory. On the other hand, it is the location of several studios for artists based in Tyrol who require space for working in a professionally interesting environment. Three apartment studios are used by the participants in the fellowship program. The other six studios are available to artists based in Tyrol. The project and presentation space is equipped with multimedia facilities and is at the fellows' disposal. The space was designed by Atelier van Lieshout.

International Fellowship Program
With its Fellowship Program for Art and Theory, Büchsenhausen promotes internationally relevant artistic production, research, and discussion in the region of Tyrol. The program is based on the idea of generating and maintaining a context for production and discussion, in which artists and theorists can connect and reflect on international art and societal discourses in relation to local topics and issues. At the same time, it affords the opportunity for an artistic laboratory of experimentation, where new artistic practices and strategies may be tried out.

The program's aims are:
* to promote and relay a critical, socially relevant production of knowledge in art and art theory;
* to produce, through the fellowship projects, qualified discourses on art and society within the local and global contexts;
* to enable the transfer of knowledge between the field of art and other publics outside the art context;
* to facilitate the exchange between cultural producers in the visual arts and beyond (creating a network of experts).

The program brings together the advantages of a residency with the possibilities of a postgraduate non-university lectureship, without offering a formalized educational program. In terms of content, the program addresses a worldwide public made up of professionals in the fields of contemporary art, architecture, art and media theory, and criticism.

The fellows are selected by a jury of experts following an open call for applications. They come to Büchsenhausen for one or two semesters to work on realizing their submitted projects or research, and accompany this process with public events. For this purpose, Büchsenhausen offers a monthly stipend, a production budget, working spaces, free lodging, and artistic and technical advice.

The conveyance and discussion of the fellow’s own work occurs parallel to the development of the individual projects. The public events take place in series. The focus of these series of events is determined by the respective emphases of the various fellows' works. Within the framework of this discursive format, the fellows (or their guests) can present various points in their research, open up their works-in-progress to critical discussion, interact with experts who they invite, work through content with the public, and/or try out new ways of working. The fellowship year ends with a group exhibition curated by the director of the Fellowship Program.

Fellowship
* a grant of EUR 3,150 to cover the costs of living during the period of residency in Innsbruck;
* an individual studio for working and living, furnished with a large shared kitchen;
* a production budget for the realization of the proposed project;
* a budget for inviting experts to Büchsenhausen for the purpose of professional exchange;
* the opportunity of a group exhibition at the end of the fellowship at the Kunstpavillon or Neue Galerie in Innsbruck.

Eligibility
Professional visual/media artists, art theorists, art critics, and curators from all over the world are eligible for the fellowship.

Requirements
The candidates must submit a project proposal. Work on the submitted project forms the core of each fellow's activities during his/her stay in Büchsenhausen. A description of a series of public events intended to accompany the individual work during the duration of the fellowship (up to four events) is also an integral part of the project proposal. If the application is successful, the fellows are required to specify the details of the presentation series and carry out the proposed program.

The fellows declare themselves willing to be present at Büchsenhausen for the duration of the fellowship. Working knowledge of English is required.

Selection
The selection of fellows is made by a jury of experts and based on the quality, originality, and relevance of the project proposal and the work samples submitted by the applicants. The jury includes the director of Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen, a member of the board of the 'Tyrolean Artists' Association' and one external expert.

The selection procedure occurs in two stages.

In the first stage, the submitted applications are evaluated and the jury makes a shortlist of candidates who will be invited to Büchsenhausen for personal interviews.

The personal interview with the jury forms the second stage. For the interview, the applicants have to come to Innsbruck to personally present their working plans and aims during the fellowship.

Büchsenhausen will pay for accommodation in Innsbruck for one night, but cannot cover the costs for travel to Innsbruck. Alternatively, a video conference (for instance via Skype) is also possible.

There is no legal right to be awarded a fellowship at Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen. The jury is therefore under no obligation to justify decisions. The jury's decision will be communicated in written form in March 2012 (first stage) and April 2012 (second stage).

Application procedure
Applications are to be written in English or German. Applications must include the following documents:

* the project proposal (max 2,000 words, 3 copies)
* a visual portfolio/documentation of recent works (artists: max 2 catalogs, max 10 photos, 1 DVD or 1 CD-ROM; theorists/art critics: max 3 recent writing samples)
* a curriculum vitae (3 copies)
* the printed confirmation e-mail of the filled electronic application form

Workshop of Contemporary Lyric Art, Open Call

International Interpretation Workshop of Contemporary Lyric Art

This experimental, cultural, artistic, professional and human meeting is a preliminary step to the Delta Ensemble's great European project for the next decade: to gather a team of artists from every horizon, for which the score of Jean-Paul G Noguès's next opera ([Meta]morphosis) will be tailor-made. This workshop offers, at the same time as potential professional job opportunities related to the Delta Ensemble's artistic project, the chance of a rewarding step of training and professionalization. Indeed, the set up pedagogical objectives, means, and staff are those of a true professional training in terms of role preparation and stage performance. The status of each participant will be adapted according to her/his specific profile (participant, guest artist or coach).

Opera singers (male/female of all tessitura) - 2 days of introduction and work with the composer will be scheduled in April, by appointment (with one or two singers). At the end of this meeting, the composer will write a dedicated score and a tailor-made role for each singer (who will possibly be able to choose the text and the sung language). During the workshop, the arias will be auditioned, worked again, staged, shot in video then performed for an audience with all or a part of the gathered instrumental line-up. Each will also be able to present and record an aria of her/his choice.

Classical musicians: flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, bassoon, violin, viola, cello, double bass and percussions.
The workshop does not consist in a simple work of accompaniment. The instrumental scores, written like true roles, will also be tailor-composed according to the musicians' personalities and techniques. An individual work of preparation is planned, in close connection with the composer. We can also schedule several preparatory auditions-meetings in April and June.

Multi-media artists:
stage directors - film-makers - cameramen - lighting engineers -film editors - visual artists - set designers - costume designers etc.

Muti-media bonus : An individual multimedia presentation will be offered to all participants including auditioning, stage performance, interviews, photos, CV... The presentation will be published on a specially created web page and on other networks for professional promotion. All the material produced will be given to the participants.

DESCRIPTION OF THE RESIDENCY PROGRAMME

La Galerie, a non profit Contemporary Art Centre located in the suburbs of Paris, hosts each year a foreign curator in residence for a period of three months. First organised in 2006, the aim of the residency is to put on an exhibition at La Galerie within the context of a public art centre, and to meet artists and professionals working in the contemporary art field in France.

Residency dates: 5 April – 5 July 2012
Exhibition dates: 26 May – 21 July 2012

Free accommodation is provided (including costs of electricity, gas, internet, phone and public transport) in a 65 m2 flat in the centre of Noisy-le-Sec (10 minutes by train from Paris + 15 minutes walk). The flat includes a bedroom, a living room/kitchen and a workspace. In addition there is a cellar connected to the flat, which can be used for events (projection, lecture…).
A total budget of 22,000 ! is provided by the art centre to cover all expenses of the exhibition including artists' and curator"s travel costs, the curator"s fee (3000 !), transport of art works, insurance costs, production costs, publicity (invitations, flyers, poster, etc), the publication of a 16 page bilingual French/ English leaflet and of a 12 page leaflet for children (graphic design and printing included).
If needed, a short visit (2 days) can be organised before the residency period in order to see the space, meet the team and do some studio visits with artists.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

Each candidate must submit an exhibition proposal which he/she would be able to implement with the help of La Galerie's team. The exhibition can be a group show (5 artists maximum), a duo, a solo show…

In addition, the application would be required to:
- Take into consideration the general artistic programme of La Galerie
- Have an interest in the French art scene.

To facilitate communication with the team and the public of La Galerie, the curator should speak French or English.
During the residency, the curator would be required to engage as much as possible with the context of the art centre and participate actively in public talks and events organised by La Galerie.
The curator would be required also to write an introductory text and accompanying texts on the works for the press release and the exhibition leaflet.

Applications should contain only 2 attached files in PDF format (maximum total weight: 4 Mo)
1) The curator's CV/résumé (PDF file) with his/her name, date of birth, address, phone and email contacts, list of curated exhibitions, pieces of writing, etc.
2) An exhibition proposal (PDF file) including:
- a text (maximum 2 pages) explaining the idea behind the exhibition
- a list of considered artists (even if they're obviously not confirmed at this stage)
- a short text about each considered artist specifying how his/her work relates in the exhibition (5 lines maximum)
- one picture (reproduction of an art work or exhibition view) for each artist. In the case of a duo or a solo exhibition, please provide pictures of various works.
- ideas about public events and workshops to be organised during the exhibition.

Artists and curators can apply for residencies at ISCP. There are two ways of applying, a partner application or a direct application.

Residencies are between three and twelve months and are sponsored by governments, corporations, foundations, institutions, organizations, galleries and private patrons. Each artist or curator is provided with 24-hour access to their studio and wireless internet. In addition, all residents can use ISCP’s common areas. ISCP does not provide or arrange living accommodation, however, a number of partner sponsors, who send participants to ISCP each year, have a furnished apartment for residents. In addition, sponsors often give a stipend for accommodation, living expenses, travel and materials.

ISCP collaborates with over forty partner governments, institutions and organizations to fund residency opportunities. Partner sponsors publicly call for applications for residencies at ISCP. Check our webside for a list of partner sponsors.

If you wish to apply directly to ISCP, please read the information below carefully:

Please email the application form and supporting materials to the e-mail address below. ISCP does not locate sponsors for direct applicants. Once accepted, artists and curators are responsible for securing funding. Please have a look at our previous sponsors for potential funding sources. When planning your residency, please bear in mind that residencies are scheduled approximately one year in advance. We are currently scheduling 2012. There is no deadline and the application review takes place once every two months.

The following steps must be taken in the order below before an applicant can be accepted into ISCP:

The program fee for 2011 is $19,570 to $21,630 per year or $1,630.83 to $1,802.50 per month. In addition, the applicant needs to calculate accommodation, living, travel and health insurance costs for the duration of their stay in New York.

Kunstwerk Carlshütte, a non-profit initiative of the ACO Group, and the towns of Büdelsdorf and Rendsburg, organises the NordArt, an annual international exhibition of visual arts from June to the beginning of October. The art exhibited at NordArt is selected by a jury and features all visual art media. The exhibition in summer 2011 displayed the work of 250 artists from 55 countries, selected from 1200 applications from 72 countries. Curator of NordArt: Wolfgang Gramm.

Exhibition area:
The old foundry building in the Carlshütte (22,000 sqm), ACO Wagenremise (400 sqm), a 80,000 square metre sculpture park, as well as public spaces in the town.

Application documents:
A Din A4 folder with the following documents:
1. (or sent by post upon request by sending us a stamped and addressed envelope (Euro 0.55 stamp)
2. Artist’s CV (short version)
3. List of the most important solo and group exhibitions
4. Photos of approx. 10 works which could be shown at Nord Art. Please label all the photos with the title, year of origin, technique, and size.

Jury:
The jury is made up of artists, an art historian, and the supervisory board and management.

The works selected by the jury must be delivered to the following address: Kunstwerk Carlshütte, Vorwerksallee, 24782 Büdelsdorf, Germany, on 20 and 21 April 2012 (early delivery possible with the prior approval of the organisers).
All of the delivered works will be insured subject to the general insurance conditions from the time of delivery to the time of collection.
Transport costs are covered by the artist. We will be happy to help organise shared transport arrangements.

NordArt Catalogue:
A catalogue in DIN A4 format, in German/English, is produced for the exhibition with one page per artist. The digital photos and text on each of the participating artists
is requested when the jury’s decision is sent out and must be supplied by eMail within 10 days.

NordArt-Prize:
The NordArt-Prize worth 10.000 Euro is being sponsered by Hans-Julius and Johanna Ahlmann (ACO Group) since 2010. Each year one artist is awarded with the aim to support the art and culture scene. The awardee will be annouced during „The Long Night of the Lights” in September and is invited to participate again in the following NordArt. The award ceremony will then take place at the opening of the following NordArt.

Public Choice Award:
The visitors of the NordArt can vote for their favourite artist. The Public Choice Award will be awarded during ‚The Long Night of the Lights‘ in September. The 1st Award is worth 1000 Euros. The three winners are invited to participate again in next years NordArt.

NordArt-Symposium:
Each year the exhibition is preceded by the highly respected international NordArt Symposium, bringing together different generations of artists to share experiences and make art – all reflecting the ethos of NordArt itself. Approximately 10 artists are invited to attend the symposium and create large works for the NordArt. If you wish to attend the symposium, please mark the “Symposium” box in the application form. For this application we require a project description with details on the materials and dimensions, estimated time required, photos with examples of works. The participants at the symposium enjoy free materials, a workplace and accommodation at the exhibition site itself. The work created remains the property of the artist and will be exhibited at NordArt for at least 2 years – with the exception of works, which are sold.

art.1 : deadline for submission and sending mail is March 01, 2012. Please note on the package "no commercial value – for cultural purpose only" if origin is a non-European Union country, and the new festival phone number 04 91 50 18 90 if necessary. The running time of each video is unlimited.
Only videos produced after January 01, 2010 can be registered. Several films can be registered; only one entry form per film.
Only videos considered as experimental are selected.
There is no submission fee.

art.2 : you could choose between the secure online submission and the submission file .rtf. At registration, the representative image of the video (jpeg, 300dpi) and the videography of the author have to be sent by email. For the submission file, the duly completed entry form .rtf must be sent by email.

art.3 : the videos can reach the festival by dvd or download. Each dvd can contain several videos. By download, the video file have to be in very good quality, the link and the informations of download have to be sent by email.

art.4 : the authors of the selected videos will be contacted by email at the beginning of June 2012; their videos have to be sent deadline June 25, 2012 to the above address on minidv or dvcam (no master), by optimal quality files on dvd or by download link, and indicates the 4/3 or 16/9, pal or ntsc formats.
For the minidv and dvcam the video have to start with a 30 seconds test pattern, followed by a countdown, and 10 seconds of black after the film.

art.5 : each author will be contacted by mail at the beginning of July 2012.

art.6 : during the festival, the selected videos will be screening by videoprojector from a computer, and the non selected videos will be proposed to the public from the catalog of the video library « à la carte » and will be screened on individual request, in the same technical conditions than the selection, from the preview video files.

art.7 : the videos which are considered as experimental by the selection committee will be kept, archived on dvd and listed on catalog in the P'Silo video library in January 2013. The P'Silo video library is a space where the videos are only consultable on site, free of charge.

art.8 : minidv or dvcam will be returned at the expense of the festival. The authors, producers and distributors give up any recourse against the organizers, including loss and damage of the videos when they are returned to the authors concerned.

art.9 : the authors, producers and distributors cede their rights for the duration of the festival. Any other utilsation outside the festival would be by predefined agreement.

art.10 : registration in the festival includes the authorization to use without rental fee a clip, not exceeding 30 seconds, of the selected works to promote the festival in a noncommercial objective (trailer, Internet, TV,…).

art.11 : the selection committee has supreme decision making authority.

art.12 : registration and participation in the Images Contre Nature festival imply the complete acceptance of the present regulations.

Founded in 1977, eva International is an artist-centred biennial of visual art that works with acclaimed guest curators to present innovative exhibitions across the city of Limerick, Ireland. Artists' projects are selected through an international open call for proposals and exhibitions take place in both gallery and non-gallery spaces. A programme of talks, workshops and events accompanies the exhibitions and provides further opportunities for audiences to engage.

eva International relaunches in 2012 and will be curated by Annie Fletcher, Curator of Exhibitions at the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven.

eva International and Annie Fletcher would like to invite artists from all over the world to propose new or existing works for inclusion in eva International 2012.

Proposals can be made in any medium. Selected artists will be supported to produce new or show existing works in Limerick City.

Proposals should be made through the online submission process. Supporting materials can either be uploaded through the online submission process, sent by post to the postal address below, or delivered by hand to Limerick City Gallery of Art or Fire Station Artists' Studios, Dublin.

Casa dell´Arte Artists in Residence Program aims to provide an alternative platform for artistic production, collaboration and exhibition in the Eastern Mediterranean region by making the resources of Casa dell´Arte in Bodrum available to visual artists.

The residency program is held twice a year, in spring and autumn, with the participation of 5 artists and 1 curator for a period of 6 weeks. At the end of this period an exhibition is held at Casa dell´Arte Hotel of Arts & Leisure in Bodrum, prior to a general exhibition in Istanbul. A yearly publication documenting the program and the artworks is published in autumn with contributions from resident curator and artists.

The program also aims to develop a public outreach through the involvement of artists with the local community through an individual or a collaborative project. While each artist is required to have a project proposal in the beginning, we strongly encourage their interaction with the local setting and experimentation with alternative materials and or ideas that may emerge during the residency.

ACCOMODATION
Participating artists and the curator are provided accomodation in a fully furnished duplex villa located in Greenlife at 1 km distance from Casa dell´Arte Hotel of Arts and Leisure, inside the Torba Valley. Greenlife offers a lush open space overlooking the valley, filled with olive and pine trees in a green and secluded environment ideal for working.

WORKSPACE

Two open air studios are provided in addition inside Greenlife, suitable for working with wood and ceramics.
Resident artists are also welcome to use the Office space inside Greenlife for internet Access and desk work.

MATERIALS & PRODUCTION COSTS
Casa dell´Arte provides a number of basic materials such as oil and acrylic paints, best quality brushes and canvases, ceramics tools and woodwork tools. In addition, we provide support for materials and production costs specific to each project within the limits of available budget.

MEALS
All meals are provided by Casa dell´Arte in the form of a fixed daily menu. Resident artists can also do their own shopping and use the common kitchen for cooking.

TRANSPORT
Casa dell´Arte does not provide for travel costs to/from Bodrum, Turkey. Public transport inside Bodrum, from/to Torba is covered by a network of minibuses that circulate every 20 minutes. For transporting specific materials or any other special transportation needs related to the artistic project, a vehicle will be at your service.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

The residency program is open to young visual artists and curators. Applications are to be sent by email to the email address below and must include following elements:

Because of the need to broaden the network of both international and national curators, and in order to stimulate curatorial strategies and concepts in the field of graphic arts, the Frans Masereel Centrum and Z33, house for contemporary art, are launching an international open call for curatorial proposals.

The objective is for the curator to examine and question graphic media from an art-historical and social background toward modern applications and social developments. Specific characteristics of graphic art applications, in terms of technicality and content, are examined in view of defining a conceptual basis for the project. The survey into the transdisciplinary nature of graphic art techniques and into new forms of presentation and implementation offers added value as well. Testing the boundaries of the graphic medium, and the research-based, critical and society-driven approach of the project are in line with the activities of Z33, at whose premises the exhibition will be held from 28 Oct. – 31 Dec. 2012.
The project fits in with the biannual ‘curator projects’ organised by the Frans Masereel Centrum since 2004. These projects were initially developed to make the dynamics of graphic art and of the centre more widely known among the general public. The FMC offers artist in residency (AIR) programmes to graphic and non-graphic artists, i.e. artists who wish to complete a graphic art project within a certain timeframe. For the 2012 edition, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the FMC, the organisation, together with Z33, plans to initiate the curator project via an international open call for curatorial proposals for the first time.

We are looking for proposals that demonstrate innovative ideas and ambition:
- Proposals must be submitted in English.
- We encourage collective applications as well as transdisciplinary proposals.

The written vision text should be up to 1000 words. It should contain a critical and innovative vision on graphic arts in relation to other disciplines and society, new forms of presentation and new forms of applications. As well as artists and/or works that visualise this perspective.
The final curatorial concept should be process-based. The process should be an important element within the concept and needs to be documented.
An open mind and dialogues on a regular base (with the organising institutes and the artists) are essential during the collaboration.
The residencies and workshops at the Frans Masereel Centrum need to be used during the project (by curator and artists).
The selected curator will develop a curatorial concept in collaboration with Frans Masereel Centrum and Z33 and will create the exhibition at Z33 from October 28 – December 31, 2012.
Minimum 5 meetings (in person) with Frans Masereel Centrum and Z33 will take place between April and September 2012.
Candidates should be available during the period October 8-27, 2012 for the installation of the project at Z33. They should also be available during April / May 2012 for a short-term preparatory residency at Frans Masereel Centrum.
A shortlist of three curators will be selected by a panel of international judges in January 2012. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to develop an exhibition concept proposal, for a second round of submissions, presented orally and judged in March 2012. The final curator will be selected in March 2012.
Shortlisted candidates will receive a fee of 500,00 euro (all costs included, e.g. transport costs,…) for the creation of the exhibition concept proposal.
The available budget for the curatorial project will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates in round 2.

Artists are invited to submit entries by 27 January 2012 for pre-selection in the first international festival of contemporary sculpture to be staged in the National Botanical Garden after Hryshko in Kyiv, Ukraine, from 2 June to 2 July, 2012.
The festival aims to present a variety of trends in contemporary sculpture. The main project will represent artworks by Ukrainian and international artists without age limitation. Existing sculptures as well as proposals of sculptures are eligible for entry.

SCULPTURES ELIGIBLE FOR ENTRY

Existing sculptures (produced after 2009) and proposals are eligible for entry to KSP.

All types, forms and sizes of sculpture in all materials are eligible for entry to KSP. The exhibition site can accommodate the largest to the smallest sculpture, however when submitting works artists are required to consider safety, ease of installation and removal, the environment and the ability of their work to withstand the natural setting.

New media, installation and non-object based proposals are also acceptable. The only sculptures that may be ineligible for the exhibition are those using fire, water or very loud amplified sound.

SUBSIDIES
The curatorial panel will select 7 artists both Ukrainian and international, who will receive financial support to produce, install and de-install the sculpture. Funding will be determined individually for each proposal. The artist must provide a detailed budget once shortlisted.

AWARDS
The award winners’ ceremony will be held 30 June 2012.
Best Project Award and Best Emerging Artist Award will be chosen by the Expert Committee. The Project Sponsor (for consistency) of the festival will select the Special Award. The Audience Choice Prize will be awarded on the results of the audience voting.

An international competition for the digital arts marks the 7th year of the digital arts festival Bains numériques, June 2012. Categories for entries: visual arts, choreographic arts & sound arts.

Works (not previously seen in the Ile-de-France region) will now compete in three separate fields: visual arts, choreographic arts and sound arts.

To apply for one of the five residences on offer, which will have a 2-month span and will take place between October 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013, participants must be professionals in the field, be it as artist, researchers and/or teachers (with proper documentation), focusing on one of the following fields:

1. Analysis and/or proposal of methods and poetics for critical intervention in contemporary culture, with emphasis on post-colonial debates and globalization, gender politics, and new expressions of collective intelligence and action.

2. Analysis and/or creation on issues of Latin American cultural and artistic reality from a variety of perspectives: alternative definitions of and resistance to modernity ‘from the North’, the poetic and political activation of the artistic legacy of the Latin American avant-garde, and the construction of new subjectivities in the global space.

3. Exploration of modes of production, management, and interpretation of information and documentation in the new cultures of the archive, as well as research on ways of sharing information through open networks.

4. Investigation of documentary holdings about contemporary Spanish and international art, with emphasis on those that are in the Museum’s Centro de Documentación or should be included in it.

5. Exploration of new pedagogical methods and/or analysis of the pedagogical dimension of one’s own research or artistic work.

Candidates must also present an abstract of the project in 3,000 words or less, explaining the research project to be carried out during the residence and a project for public activity and seminar for post-graduate students at the Museum’s Centro de Estudios, organized with the Museum’s Cultural Programs Department.

Organised in August 2012 in the Gobi desert, the Biennial offers a residency to artists wanting to interact with the unique nature reserve environment and to discuss what Land Art can reveal about Art & Politics.
ART & POLITICS
Global change in politics, the perspective of ecology in the 21st century and a new vision of diversity require a creative understanding. In order to develop a new chapter in Land Art and following the nomadic idea of the Walking Museum the Land Art Biennial in Mongolia was founded to be located in variously areas of Mongolia. In August 2012 with MONGOLIA 360° the 2nd international Mongolian Land Art Biennial will be take place in the very special location of Ikh GAZRIIN CHULUU Gobi. The Biennial will discuss a contemporary definition of what Land Art can reveal about Art & Politics.

During the residency artists have the opportunity to realize side specific works. Artists are expected to interact with the environment of the nature reserve and free in the choice of materials and artistic expressions (installation/performance/earth art/organic art/sculpture etc.)

A final exhibition including a catalogue and an according Symposium will present a documentation of the realized works in the National Mongolian Modern Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar.

Additionally the programme offers
- The opportunity to get acquainted with de Appel arts centre from ‘the inside’, and get a better insight into the mechanisms and governing principles of a contemporary institution for visual arts.

- The possibility to make a research trip outside of Western Europe and a minimum of 5 field trips, within Europe.

- The opportunity to meet and have an exchange with a large number of artists, curators, critics and other international professionals through thematic seminars and informal encounters. Guest teachers over the past years have been e.g. Claire Bishop, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Gerardo Mosquera, Paul O’Neill, Paulo Herkenhoff, Jacques Rancière, Simon Sheikh, Pier Luigi Tazzi, Jan Hoet, Teresa Gleadowe, Tirdad Zolghadr, Ulay and Nina Möntmann.

The programme pays attention to the history of exhibition-making, diverse curatorial practices, institution building and project management. The programme is characterized by a specific focus on ‘curating in the expanded field’, which is investigated through the polarity between ‘free-lance’ and ‘institutional’ curating and the notion ‘context-responsive’ curating.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. A letter of motivation in which you state your personal drive as well as your expectations of the programme.
2. A proposal for a project (maximum 4000 words, approx 8 pages A4) including: concept and location of the project (main focus, explanation of context and relevance), the participating artists (including some image material), a realistic budget, a publicity plan (not obliged).
3. A CV, including an extensive description of your relevant working experience
4. Two written references of (former) tutors, professors or employers, in English.

On the basis of the submitted documents twelve candidates will be short-listed. These candidates will be invited to come to Amsterdam in the second week of March for an interview with an international jury, who will select the final six participants of the Curatorial Programme 2012/2013.

IndieLisboa (International Independent Film Festival, Lisbon) aims to contribute to the discovery in Portugal of new films and new directors - within the universe of independent film - both national and international.
Article 1 (Objective)
IndieLisboa intends to stimulate the public exhibition of films that are neither distributed nor exhibited within Portugal's traditional circuits.
Article 2 (Date)
The 9th IndieLisboa will be held between April 26th to May 6th, 2012.
Article 3 (Sections)
1. The following sections accept submissions:
A) IndieLisboa
International Competition - The International Competition for short and feature films is composed of films that have never been publicly exhibited in Portugal and which were completed in 2011 or 2012. First or second works, fiction, animation, documentaries and experimental films may apply to this section. The festival is particularly keen to promote the work of new directors.
Emerging Cinema - This section highlights innovative works by emerging filmmakers, exploring new trends in world cinema, fresh narrative forms, and promising voices.
Observatory - A survey of essential works in independent contemporary cinema by established film-makers.
World Pulse – A competitive section comprising features and shorts dealing with global or local issues.
National Competition - This section aims to give national and international recognition to Portuguese shorts and features.
B) IndieJunior
International Competition - Screenings programmed for a younger audience: shorts and feature films, comprising animations and live-action films; fictional films and documentaries.
2. IndieLisboa also has parallel sections:
IndieMusic - a programme comprising films - mainly documentaries - focusing on music, especially independent pop/rock and its practitioners.
Director's Cut - a programme of recently-restored titles, rediscoveries and films which reflect on cinema itself, its artistic dimensions and history.
3. IndieLisboa has also a retrospective section entitled Independent Hero, dedicated to those who go beyond the mainstream in filmmaking and help to open new and unconventional paths for cinema.
Article 4 (How to apply)
1. To apply to IndieLisboa's International Competition, all films must fulfil the following criteria:
-The films can be fiction, animation, documentary or experimental Short or Feature films;
- They must be the first or second works by their director(s);
- Acceptable formats are 35mm, 16mm and video;
- They must have been completed in either 2011 or 2012;
- IndieLisboa must constitute their first public presentation in Portugal.
2. Regarding the other sections of the festival, including IndieJunior:
- Fiction, animation, documentary and experimental Short and Feature films;
- Formats - 35mm, 16mm, video;
- Films produced preferably in 2010 and 2011;
- Portuguese premieres are preferred.
3. The Festival may, in exceptional circumstances decide to select films that do not fulfill one or more of these criteria. Such selection is at the discretion of the festival organisers.
Article 5 (Subtitling)
1. All selected films will be screened with Portuguese and English subtitles.
2. Portuguese films will be screened with English subtitles.
Article 6 (Juries)
1. The Jury of the International Competition of Feature Films will be composed of five renowned personalities from the world of cinema, at least one of whom will be Portuguese. The Jury is responsible for allocating the following awards: Feature Film Grand Prize, Best Portuguese Feature Film, Best Image (cinematography) and Distribution Award.
2. The Jury of the International Competition of Short Films will be composed of three renowned personalities from the world of cinema, at least one of whom will be Portuguese. The Jury will be responsible for allocating the following awards: Short Film Grand Prize, Best Portuguese Short Film, Best Portuguese Short Film Director, Best Image (cinematography) and Talent Award.
3. The Jury of the International Competition may give Special Mentions, where appropriate.
4. The World Pulse Jury will be composed of three renowned personalities (at least one of whom will be Portuguese) and will be responsible for allocating the World Pulse Award.
5. The IndieJunior Jury will be composed of five students from Portuguese schools, and will be responsible for allocating the IndieJunior Award.
6. The AIP Jury will be composed of three renowned Portuguese personalities related Cinematography/Image and will be responsible for allocating two awards: Best Image for a Portuguese Short Film and Best Image for a Portuguese Feature Film.
7. The Onda Curta Jury will be composed of three renowned personalities from the world of cinema (including one representative of the TV programme "Onda Curta") and will be responsible for allocating an award to a short film from the International Competition or Emerging Cinema sections.
8. The Amnesty International Jury is composed of three renowned personalities, and will be responsible for allocating the Amnesty International Award.
9. The Signis Jury is composed of three renowned personalities, and will be responsible for allocating the 'Signis Award – Árvore da Vida.'
10. Individuals directly connected with the production, exhibition or distribution of films presented in the International Competition may not sit on the Jury.
Article 7 (Awards)
1.The awards attributed by the Jury of the International Competition are as follows:
- Feature Film Grand Prize, worth €15,000;
- Short Film Grand Prize, worth €5,000€
- Distribution Award, worth the equivalent of €2,500 (subject to special regulations);
- Best Portuguese Feature Film (This award may be given to any film in the International Competition, Emerging Cinema or Observatory sections, and is worth €5,000);
- Best Portuguese Short Film (This award may be given to any film in the International Competition, Emerging Cinema and Observatory sections, and is worth €2,500 plus €6,000 in services);

2. The Distribution Award is given to a Feature Film from the International Competition and is equivalent to the sum of €10,000 to aid the distribution of the winning film in Portugal (award subject to special regulations.)
3. The World Pulse Award is given to a film selected from the corresponding section and is a "TV acquisitions rights award" worth €5,000.
4. The IndieJunior Award is given to a film selected from the corresponding section (feature or short), worth €1,000.
5. The Award for Best Image (cinematography) for a Portuguese Feature Film (given to any film in International Competition, Emerging Cinema or Observatory sections) and worth 4,500€ in film services and the Award for Best Image (cinematography) in a Portuguese Short Film (given to any film in International Competition, Emerging Cinema or Observatory sections) is given by AIPJury.
6. The Onda Curta Award is given to the Best Short Film(s) and is a "TV acquisitions rights award" (This award is given to a film [or films] from the International Competition or Emerging Cinema sections).
7. The Amnesty International Award is given by an independent jury, selected from those films in the official programme of the festival regarded as promoting the values of Amnesty International, particularly those concerning human rights. The winner receives a diploma and €1,250.
8. The Signis Award is given by an independent jury, to the Best Portuguese Film (either feature or short) selected for the National Competition or World Pulse sections, which promote human and spiritual values. The winner receives a special trophy and €2,000.
9. Three Audience Awards (which are voted for by public attending screenings in the International Competition, Emerging Cinema, Observatory, World Pulse or IndieJunior sections): Feature Film (€2,000); Short Film (€1,000); IndieJunior (€1,000.)

Article 9 (Selection)
1. The official selection will be announced one month before the beginning of the festival. After this announcement and until after its exhibition in the festival, the selected films must not be publicly exhibited in Portugal.
2. Unsuccessful submissions will be notified at least one month before the start of the festival.
Article 10 (Retention of films)
All films screened during the festival must remain at the festival until its close, and will be returned only after the closing ceremony or, in some cases, when autorized, till one month after the festival.
Article 11 (Transportation)
1. The transportation costs of DVDs submitted to the festival for selection purposes must be paid by the person/organization submitting the film.
2. Print/tape transportation costs (round-trip) for films which are selected for the program - as well as the insurance relating to them - are the Festival's responsibility, except when the film is coming from another festival. In such cases, IndieLisboa will pay only for the sending of the print/tape (in accordance with standard practice at international film festivals).
Article 12 (Insurance)
Insurance for all films/tapes is the entire responsibility of the Festival, from their reception by the Festival until their return.
Article 13 (Publicity)
The producer (and/or the owner of the exhibition rights of the film in film-festivals) of films which have won awards during the festival must mention IndieLisboa in all publicity and press/promotion materials produced immediately after the awarding of the prize to the film.
Article 14 (Acceptance)
Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of all the aforementioned regulations.
Article 15 (General disclaimer)
Decisions of the Festival's Direction are final, and they will be responsible for decisions relating to any issues not covered by the above regulations, in accordance with the international rules of Film Festivals.

Harpo Foundation will use a new 2-step application process to review proposals submitted by non-profit institutions and fiscal sponsors who seek support on behalf of under recognized visual artists. Unlike in 2010 and 2011, the foundation will not use a thematic focus to prioritize funding in 2012.

Proposals
The foundation will consider proposals that directly support the production of new work by visual artists and/or collaborative teams who are under recognized by the field. This production may happen in the context of an installation, public intervention, residency, or exhibition.
Application Fee: None
Criteria
In its grantmaking, Harpo Foundation prioritizes projects that advance and cross the boundaries of visual media and artistic disciplines. Proposals are evaluated on the basis of the quality of the artist's work, the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry, and the strength of its relationship to the foundation's priority to provide support to visual artists who are under recognized by the field.

Funding
The foundation awards between 10-15 grants annually and funding decisions are made by the Board of Directors. As a general guideline, requests should not exceed $10,000 per year. Allowable use-of-funds includes direct support to the artist for honoraria, commissioning fees, production costs, and travel.

All projects funded during the 2012 funding cycle should be completed by September 2013. Projects that are scheduled in 2012 but happen prior to the foundation's November notification date may be eligible for funding on a retroactive basis.

In rare cases the foundation will fund multiyear projects up to 3 years to provide support to artists whose projects rely on the passage of time as an essential component to its concept and structure. Of interest are durational approaches as they relate to changes in the physical environment, or as they inform an artist's process. Proposals must demonstrate that the complexity of an artist's project -its temporal and/or spatial dimensions - is time dependent. For example, a project that cannot be completed independent of a particular time frame because its very structure is based on seasonal shifts or a requirement to visit and document a certain place a number of times to collect information or research how a subject changes over time. The foundation is interested in supporting projects that will allow time and its properties of change to become a part of the project's cumulative process.

Single year projects that have durational qualities will be considered under this special interest as well.

Eligibility
Tax exempt 501c3 organizations are eligible.
Institutions in countries outside of the United States are eligible but if awarded must be prepared to supply the foundation with a legal affidavit written in English qualifying its tax exempt activities and structure.
Presenting venues and hosting organizations may only submit one application a year.
Individual artists may not apply on behalf of themselves but may apply in cooperation with a fiscal sponsor. Unlike presenting venues and hosting organizations, artist-support organizations that serve as fiscal sponsors may submit on behalf of more than one artist a year.

Harpo Foundation receives many more applications than it is able to fund. Therefore, as a way to guide applicants through an open process, letters of inquiry must be submitted prior to being invited to submit a full application.

In March 2011, The Bass Museum of Art initiated the first of three, one-year curatorial fellowships focusing on contemporary art thanks to generous support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge.

Now in its second year, this Fellowship offers one emerging curator experience in working in a mid-sized art museum while performing curatorial tasks, working alongside other museum departments and dialoguing with artists, collectors and arts professionals in the Miami arts community. Among other responsibilities, the Fellow will conduct studio visits in Miami and assist in developing public programming to engage the art community. He/she will assist in the coordination of exhibition programming and contemporary artists' projects, and facilitate educational programs for museum members.

"Connecting these curators from across the globe with Miami's renowned contemporary artists will help to expand the reach of the community's art scene," states Dennis Scholl, vice president/arts. "We hope this program will encourage artistic exchange for years to come."

The Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area (CAFKA) is an artist-run organization that produces an international biennial exhibition of contemporary art projects in the public spaces of the Waterloo Region. Through the exhibition, lectures, tours and related special events, CAFKA develops opportunities to learn about contemporary art and participate in its making – creating memorable experiences and contributing to the creation of an engaging, animated and stimulating urban environment.
CAFKA wants to hear what artists are thinking about and what drives their practice. The theme of the Spring 2013 biennial exhibition will therefore be determined by the topics and content identified within the proposals. Further, CAFKA seeks artists who are able to respond to the specific features of the local urban landscape and culture as sites of critique and reflection from a global perspective.

CAFKA is inviting proposals for new or existing works that engage the public and a diverse audience. Works in all media will be considered including sculpture, performance, video, audio, installation, photography, painting, drawing, and digital media.

Artist Fees paid for Visual and Media Art Projects: $2,000 CAD, plus travel expenses. Wherever possible CAFKA will work with artists to source the donation of materials to help offset production costs. Call for proposals: Nomadic Village UK 2012

The Nomadic Village is a temporary 10-day settlement set up on a vacant lot in County Durham, UK. The nomadic artists’ mobile homes/ateliers will form the structure of the Village, with On The Road Productions’ (ORP) Steyr-Ikarus bus acting as its townhall. Artists will come together to work in this autonomous environment to stimulate creativity and exchange, and attract local people to observe and participate in the process. At the end of the Village there will be a public exhibition/show that will invite a woder audience to appreciate the works produced during the Village. The project is run by Klaus Maehring (Lead Artist and founder) from ORP/Austria.

The Nomadic Village UK 2012 is produced in collaboration with ISIS Arts (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) and supported by Durham County Arts Team. It will seek to invite nomadic artists from all over the world, whose practice is rooted in themes surrounding nomadism; those who intentionally displace themselves to seek encounters that not only influence their work but form it; artists who work without borders and constantly respond to situations, places and people along their journey. The Nomadic Village will act as a platform for artists working in this manner, ultimately creating a wider, more visible network for nomadic artists.

How to Apply:
This call is open to artists from all over the world, who preferably come with their own mobile space to live and work in. To apply please send us a description of the project you would like to realise at the Nomadic Village, an artist bio/statement and CV. Include supporting material/documentation of previous work, either attached to email or send us web links. Make sure we get an idea about who you are, your artistic practice, who is involved and what kind of mobile structure you will travel/work/live in. Let us know if for some reason you can’t come with your own vehicle; we might be able to provide you with a space. The Nomadic Village provides the site, infrastructure and food but does not pay for artists coming to the Village. However, if your travel costs are especially high, e.g. if you are coming with a big diesel hungry truck or flying from far away, you can apply to the Dizel Grant (see here for more details).

The Traveling Exhibition:
After the public presentation in the Village, a selection of the artists’ work will be curated into a group exhibition. Selection criteria includes:
• Artists whose work looks at themes of nomadism, working without borders, displacement, dislocation, journey.
• Work that responds to the place and the situation.
• Artists who practice exploring places, meeting/interacting with strangers, going into the
unexpected.
• Access to live/work mobile space.
• Ability to commit to entire Village.

The Nomadic Village will provide:
• All meals provided with dinners cooked by Umesh Maddanahali, other meals provided on a DIY base.
• letters of invitation and other support to enable you to raise additional funds.
• Facilities – including electricity, toilets, running water, wifi.
• Contact to the local community.

Thanks to the success of the previous events and to a renewed partnership between the General Direction for landscape, fine arts, architecture and contemporary arts – Ministry for Assets and Cultural Activities and GAI – Association of the Circuit of Young Italian Artists, the contest Movin’Up will keep promoting also during the two-year period 2010-2012 the international circulation of rising Italian artists, in the framework of the project DE.MO. – supporting new design for art shop and bookshop and international mobility of young Italian artists.

Movin’Up is a contest addressed to young creative artists aged 18 to 35 years, professionally oriented and who have gained entrance or have been officially invited abroad by cultural authorities, festivals, public and private corporations to contests, residences, seminars, workshops, internships or similar ventures. Also included those who plan to carry out artistic productions based in centers or institutions abroad.

The aim of the project is to promote the work of Italian talents giving them concrete opportunities to share their art, providing them with a real chance to participate in international events and prestigious training programmes with artistic and professional growth potential. This idea stems from the need to support the production of the projects that stand out from the innovation and cross-discipline point of view, so as to enhance the international circulation our national artistic pursuits.

The project, based on the allocation of an annual fund, allows artists to claim a grant to cover part of the travel expenses, and/or room, and/or production in the host city abroad. The eligible sectors are the following: visual arts, architecture, design, music, cinema, video, theatre, dance, performance, and writing.

ISIS Arts is an artist led, visual and media arts organisation, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in North East England, which runs an international programme of commissions, residencies and events. ISIS Arts’ core ethos is to support artists to make critically engaged visual and media art, which is locally significant and internationally relevant, and to share the learning and relationships we gain.

We place artists at the centre of all our programmes creating physical, virtual and strategic ‘spaces’ for the production of art. We are interested in artists whose work seeks to reveal the world we live in, providing new perspectives on identity and challenging prejudices. We seek out and engage with artists of all backgrounds and cultures to facilitate international and inter-cultural exchange.

ISIS is committed to showing work within the public realm, engaging as wide an audience as possible in dialogue with artists and artworks, making our projects accessible to a diverse public. Based in Newcastle city centre, ISIS has two studio spaces for visiting artists, a media training room, and an inflatable touring venue for sharing media arts with a wider audience. ISIS works with many international, national and regional artists to support practice and exchange.

Selection will take place during November and all applicants will be notified by Tuesday 6th December 2011.

Visual and Media artists, UK and beyond, are invited to apply for a three-week research residency at ISIS Arts, Newcastle Upon Tyne (UK), to take place between January and April 2012.

The residencies are open to regional, national and international artists working in the field of visual and media art with a particular interest (but not limited to) the use of technologies and digital media in the creation of artworks. There are 2 residency opportunities available with each successful artist awarded a bursary of £1500.

This is an opportunity for artists to spend time in a self-contained city centre studio space to research a new project or idea without the constraints of having to necessarily produce a body of work; the emphasis for this residency is on research not on finished art works.

There is a bursary of £1500 for the minimum of a three-week period (to include all travel and accommodation costs). Artists may apply individually or as part of a group (however the award per residency will not change).

All artists will have access to ISIS equipment, critical support and introductions to arts networks in the region. Some technical assistance (2 days of training/technical support per residency) is also available but the artist is expected to be mostly self-reliant and familiar with the media they want to use.

All artists are expected to present their work at ISIS as part of an artist talk event.

• Artists that share our interest in working in social and political contexts.
• Experience of using digital media and technologies in the creation of art works.
• The ability to research, interpret and present ideas.
• Experience of working on fixed term residencies with deadlines.
• A professional practice, undergraduate students not eligible.

Florida Atlantic University proudly announces the Helen M. Salzberg Artist in Residence Program in coordination with the Jaffe Center for Book Arts for Spring Semester 2012. JCBA is located at Florida Atlantic University’s Wimberly Library. The center revolves around a core collection of artists’ books and its educational mission focuses on all aspects of the book arts, including hand papermaking and paper decoration, letterpress printing and alternative print techniques, and bookbinding in its traditional form as well as contemporary book structures.

Income from this endowed fund, established in 2011 by poet and artist Helen M. Salzberg, will enable artists working in the Book Arts to come to the Jaffe Center on a semester basis to work and teach at the center. While here, the artist will produce a creative project using JCBA studios and also teach a workshop for FAU students and the general public and mentor FAU students as his or her schedule allows. We are excited about the opportunity for our students to work alongside highly talented and creative book artists.

Two residencies will be awarded each academic year: one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. The Artist in Residence (AIR) selected each semester will get his or her own office at JCBA and full use of the JCBA studios (papermaking, letterpress and book studios). The artist’s residency will last for 12 weeks, though shorter or longer residencies may be accommodated as needed. In the application process, if an artist has a particularly ambitious creative project in mind, the artist may apply for a residency that would encompass two semesters. Should the two-semester residency be awarded in this case, the artist would be expected to teach one workshop in each semester.

The AIR will receive a stipend of $5,000 for the semester. The artist is responsible for transportation, housing, parking, meals and materials for his or her creative project. JCBA will provide materials for workshops.

The residency for the Spring Semester 2012 is expected to take place within the period of January 7, 2012 through May 4, 2012.

CREATIVE PROJECT GUIDELINES
The AIR is expected to complete a Creative Project while in residency at JCBA. We are open to all Creative Project ideas, but the project should include some aspect of the book arts. A limited edition book is a logical Creative Project, but we will gladly consider other projects that somehow incorporate paper or print or creative approaches to the book arts. We have a very broad definition of the Book at JCBA, and we welcome each artist’s unique approach and perspective. If you think there’s a connection, there probably is.

WORKSHOPS
The AIR will teach a workshop, and depending on the nature of the workshop, it may be one that meets for one or two intensive days or it may be one that meets over the course of the semester. The workshop would most likely be one that covers some aspect of the book arts in handmade paper, paper decoration, print or binding, but again, we are open to other concepts, too.

STUDIO EQUIPMENT
JCBA studios will be open and available for the AIR’s use and for the workshop taught by the AIR. (The list of available equipment in each studio is availaible on the website.)

APPLICATION
Artists who wish to compete for consideration for this prestigious opportunity must submit their application and support materials for review by a JCBA panel comprised of book artists and book arts enthusiasts. Your application packet must be submitted via post or delivered in person to JCBA and should include the following:

So after you have created your beautiful shiny vehicle or mechanical marvel of modeling greatness, mess it up. And mess it up good. We are looking for aged, used, dented, dinged, wrecked, blown up and utterly messed up. This is a great time to explore materials and modifiers that can add to the realism of our Mayhem.

CDA-Projects Grant is accepting applications to support the production of artistic research projects aimed at critical knowledge production with a transdisciplinary approach. 10,000 Euros will be awarded based on the decision of an international jury for the selected project to be completed by July 2012.
CDA-Projects will also support a publication after the completion of the project, which will reflect the research and production process. The publication will be completed in the following six months and launched in December 2012.
CDA Projects is a commercial gallery in İstanbul, which represents established and emerging contemporary artists from Turkey and abroad.
Projects

Assessment Criteria
Project selection shall be made by comparing the proposals presented in accordance with the following assessment criteria:
- Ability to speculate on what knowledge is and suggest new forms of knowledge production
- Ability to articulate an innovative methodology and form in relation to the content
- Ability to consider artistic problems from a theoretical viewpoint
- Ability to articulate a trandisciplinary approach; creating cooperation among different fields.

The Jury
The invited jury member are Hito Steyerl, Anton Vidokle and Pauline J. Yao. İz Öztat will take part in the jury as the project manager of the CDA-Projects Grant for Artistic Research and Production.

Hito Steyerl is a documentary filmmaker and author who holds a PhD in Philosophy. Her work, which examines issues such as globalization, feminism, and postcolonial critique comprises film, essays, and installations. She is currently lecturing at UdK Berlin as a professor of New Media and lectured at Goldsmith's College, London, The Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, among other institutions. Steyerl's films include: After the Crash, 2009; Do you speak Spamsoc, 2008; Lovely Andrea, 2007; and November, 2004. Recent exhibitions include: Hito Steyerl, Chisenhale Gallery, London, 2010; FORMER WEST Research Exhibition Vectors of the Possible, BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht, 2010; A History of Irritated Material, Raven Row, London, 2010; Im Moment des Verdachts (In the Event of Suspicion), 2010, Bielefelder Kunstverein, Bielefeld, 2010; Alles Anders? (Everything Else?), Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna, 2010; and Hito Steyerl, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), Berlin, 2009.

Anton Vidokle is an artist, born in Moscow and living in New York and Berlin. His work has been exhibited internationally at Venice Biennale, Liverpool Biennial, Lyon Biennial, Dakar Biennale, and at Tate Modern among others. As a founder of e-flux he has produced Do it, Utopia Station poster project, and organized An Image Bank for Everyday Revolutionary Life, and Martha Rosler Library. Other works include e-flux video rental, co-organized with Julieta Aranda; research into education as a site for artistic practice as co-curator for the cancelled Manifesta 6, European Biennial for Contemporary Art; and Unitednationsplaza—a twelve-month experimental school in Berlin initiated in response to the unrealized Manifesta 6. He is co-editor of e-flux journal along with Julieta Aranda and Brian Kuan Wood. Vidokle's most recent projects are Time/Bank and Time/Store, produced in collaboration with Julieta Aranda.

Pauline J. Yao is an independent curator and writer currently based in Beijing. She holds an MA from the University of Chicago and served as Assistant Curator of Chinese Art at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and adjunct faculty member in the Graduate Program at the California College of the Arts, San Francisco before relocating to Beijing for a Fulbright Research Grant in 2006. She is the inaugural recipient of the Chinese Contemporary Art Awards - Art Critic Award, co-curator of the 2009 Shenzhen Hong Kong Architecture and Urbanism Bi-city Biennale and author of In Production Mode: Contemporary Art in China (Timezone 8 Books, 2008). Her writings have appeared in various online and print magazines and journals including e-flux journal, Artforum International, Frieze, Yishu Journal, Modern Painters, Contemporary Art and Investment (Chinese); and numerous edited volumes and artist monographs. She is also the co-founder of Arrow Factory, an independently run storefront art space in Beijing initiated in 2008. 3 Years: Arrow Factory is due for publication by Sternberg Press in September 2011.

İz Öztat is an artist currently based in Istanbul. She is currently a candidate for PhD in Art Practice at Yıldız Technical University, İstanbul. She lectured at Kadir Has University between 2009 - 2011. In 2008, she co-founded cura bodrum residency in Muğla as an investigation into self-organization and non-institutional support mechanisms. Her work has been included in Second Exhibition, Arter and When Ideas Become Crime at Depo, İstanbul. Her solo shows are READ/ OKU at PiST, Istanbul (2008), Love It or Leave It, Ohio (2005) and Nothing Disappears Without a Trace, Ohio (2004).

She works with institutions in Europe, Asia, Russia, United States and Latin America. "Under A Tinsel Sun" is the theme of the III Moscow International Biennale for Young Art.
The Biennale focuses on a young generation of artists aged up to 35 years. "Under A Tinsel Sun" assumes that, despite the cultural, economic and social differences that may exist between the participants from different countries, there is a common factor in the impossibility of locating oneself by belonging to certain peer groups (whether in the ideological or in the artistic sense). With the absence of a “we”, the self-positioning of the (artistic)individual becomes the pressing imperative of the present, especially whenbeing aware that “reality” as such is constructed, subjective andfragmented. This realization becomes the drive for the artists’self-positioning and for their production of works that no longer describe an "objective" reality but catalyze amultidimensional and alternative perception of the world.

For the first time at the Biennale 2012 there will be set up a competition among the participants. The jury will include leading Russian and international experts in the field of contemporary art.

Educational program will be introduced, consisting of a series of master classes, lectures and round tables with participation of art historians, critics, curators and artists from all over the world. Biennale for Young Art "Qui Vive?" will present works by young artists— paintings, installations, objects, photos, multimedia, videos, performances, sound art, etc.

Assessment Criteria
Project selection shall be made by comparing the proposals presented in accordance with the following assessment criteria:
- Ability to speculate on what knowledge is and suggest new forms of knowledge production
- Ability to articulate an innovative methodology and form in relation to the content
- Ability to consider artistic problems from a theoretical viewpoint
- Ability to articulate a trandisciplinary approach; creating cooperation among different fields.
- Project feasibility according to the complementary documents provided
- Ability to create new technological assemblages and to work innovatively with technology, which does not have to be necessarily high-tech.

Satellietgroep is based since 2006 in The Hague, The Netherlands, a country with a strong historic art and innovative relationship with the sea. Satellietgroep has an embedded art and culture approach to researching the way the sea and waterways influences cities and people. We aim to research the pressure on public, social and cultural use on the waterfronts and develop new concepts and strategies focused on a new approach of future sea and coastal urban areas.

Arts and science can express the spatial and social qualities - as well as the problems - of our coastal areas, and make them engagingly accessible to the public. These works can transform a destination normally marked by consumption and recreation into a platform for critical communication and serious reflection. BADGAST is a research based artist in residency at the coast of The Hague/Scheveningen where Satellietgroep invites artistst and scientists to develop and present research that articulates a cultural, innovative and sustainable significance of the sea and its coasts. BADGAST is built in 2009 of two stacked shipping containers by recycle architects Refunc for Satellietgroep. BADGAST is situated at FAST, the new urban beach community that is created at the point where the boulevard turns into the harbour of Scheveningen, The Hague, The Netherlands. The Programme is a retreat offered to artists and scholars where they can reflect, interact, and create. The artists-in-residence programme is one of the activities that Sanskriti offers to artists who are especially interested in exploring traditional crafts from India and collaborating with local Indian artists and artisans to extend their practice. Sanskriti’s network and status of a premier cultural foundation allows us to proactively facilitate such interactions.

The artist residency programme is facilitated at the Sanskriti Kendra, which is located on the outskirts of New Delhi. Sanskriti can offer the following exclusive facilities to artists in residence.

Sanskriti Museums: There are three museums located within the Sanskriti cultural complex. These are the Museum of Indian Terracotta, Museum of Everyday Art and the Museum of Indian Textiles. These enhance the artistic and cultural sensibilities of the residents.

Collaborative work with traditional craftsperson: Sanskriti maintains networks regular linkages with traditional crafts persons and crafts workshops all over India. Artists in residence could benefit from exploring these workshops and practices in pursuing their own contemporary work.

Site-specific installations: Sanskriti Kendra provides open air space in its ground for site-specific works of art or installations. Any ideas should be discussed well in advance of the application for the residency.

Materials: Sanskriti has developed a resource for various traditional materials both in terms of their identification and their procurement. Such materials would include mineral pigments, natural dyes, variety of cloth material, gold and silver leaves, shellac, handmade paper, and different kinds of clay, wooden blocks.

Participation in Open Houses and other forums: The artists can present their work in public forums, interact in seminars, conduct workshops with underprivileged children. They can also share their own practice and techniques with students at local art schools.

Gallery in The Garden offers residencies to artists from all disciplines - visual arts, sculpture, new media and performing arts, architecture, textile, music, literature, to art historians and working in educational programs, social workers or researchers, or anyone who wishes to enjoy Plovdiv.
We accept applications from individuals and small collaborative groups, both established and young artists at the beginning of their careers. Accommodation for up to 3 artists at a time (doubled if shared the room). Work can either be done in the studio or outside in the garden. Lodging is situated in new build spacious studios surrounded by landscaped garden. Three studios provide excellent living and working accommodation for a period of up to 2 months (longer residencies by arrangement).

Facilities include 32 square meter studio – large double bedroom, sitting area, terrase with entrance to the garden, WC, bath with shower, 2 additional beds in mesonet style, working studio, outdoor spaces. Artists could come with spouses/family.

At the end of their stay (as option) the artists are offered an exhibition. Fees charged by weekend/week/ month starting from 150 euros. However, we are open to discuss some ways to lower the fees, including partnerships, in-kind contributions.

The artists could use of large outdoor swimming pool, sauna, cross trainer in the house for a small fee. Free wireless internet, bottle of mineral water daily, welcome bottle of wine and organic seasonal fruits.

Funding: we can assist artists seeking grants or other forms of funding by providing a formal invitation letter when a candidature is accepted. We can help organize exhibition openings, press conferences and campaigns if required.

We do not have application form or deadline.

RULES
The Festival is open to all international videoartists. Participation is free.
Between all submitted videos a final selection based on vote of a Jury composed by experts will be done. The 30 selected artworks will become part of CAM permanent collection.
All sent materials will not be returned, and will be stored in the Festival's archive like documentation.
By sending the participation form, the artist accepts fully the present rules.
The Jury verdict is incontestable.
The artist accepts that his/her own videos will be broadcasted online and offline, on magmart's web page; he/she accept that, if selected, the video become part of permanent collection of CAM, and should be freely screened CAM rooms.

All the videos, selected or not, become part of Magmart's archive, and can be screened in any other place or event related to Festival, online or offline, with exclusion of any commercial use.

Still-frame from videos can be freely used for the Festival communication, mentioning title and author of artwork.

All rights on videos remain property of author. The author assert, under his/her own liability, the complete right of use on used materials (images, sounds, videos) and that compose the artwork; the author undertake completely the liability for any breach of copyright laws.

To participate it is necessary to fill out the participation form available online. The omission, or the incorrect filling, of one or more parts of form itself, will involve the exclusion of video by selection of Jury.

The possible selection by Jury is in any case subordinate at an essential condition for the proclaim of winners: the author of selected video must send, via ordinary mail, and within midnight of March, 15 2012, the donation act to CAM of the copy of his/her own video, and the hard copy on DVD itself.

The donation act don't underlie in any way a transfer of right, but certify exclusively the willingness of author so that a copy of his/her own video artwork will be permanently keeped - and, with limitations above, utilized - in the permanent collection of CAM.
Without this donation act, the videos will be rule out by group of 30 selected artworks, and replaced by those immediately subsequent in Jury's ranking.

Any author can participate with max 5 videos.

Arte Association’s Artists’ Residency SUMU offers one- to three-month residencies in 2012 to new media artists, working in the intersection of new technologies and contemporary art.
The residency is located in Turku, in the South-western coast of Finland. Artists are provided with free accommodation and studio, and a possibility of exhibiting their work either in Sumu’s studio space which is adjoined to Arte’s gallery Titanik or in another public space in Turku or on Sumu’s website.

The artists must fund all their living expenses including food and transportation. Arte can help the artists with material costs up to 200 euros depending on the application.

- CV (max one page) plus artist’s homepage
- DVD / CD including a maximum of 10 minutes worth of samples in PC format

The term Upcycling was first used by Reiner Pilz who described recycling as a system where everything is smashed. He used the term Downcycling to describe this and called for what he referred to as Upcycling, a practice where old products are given more value and not less. In this sense, Upcycling is about the way we remake things.
If we consider reinventing or remaking public space, we do not speak about reinventing the wheel or total erasure of what exists, but of how to work with existing environments, objects and materials.
Projects will be analyzed on their use of the Upcycling concept and cross-disciplinary approaches to public space as well as their interpretation of Readymade design, referencing Duchamp’s description of ‘found art,’ or objects which are slightly modified to take on a new social function.
Why?
To rethink, re-use and reinvent public space by exploring human creativity and existing materials through co-creations, performances, installations and hands-on experiments.
What fields of transversality?
Light/temporary architecture, furniture, lighting, sound, public visual art and performances, storytelling, food, scent & taste…
Who?
Designers, architects, landscape architects, anthropologists, philosophers, storytellers.Professional and students are welcome to introduce their projects.

Oslo Screen Festival is an international festival for video art happening in Oslo every two years. This is a non-profit initiative started in 2008 by visual artist Margarida Paiva and producer Rune Sandnes.

The festival has been organized in autumn 2008 and spring 2010 at Filmens Hus in Oslo, each time with a duration of three days. Throughout the year the festival presents curated programmes in collaborative festivals around the world.

Both established and emerging artists are invited to send their work. The festival focuses on works that seek their own language through subjectivity and experimentation. The selected works will be part of the festival's archive.

The aim of the festival is to establish a platform for video art in Norway for both Norwegian and international artists. Our wish is to break boundaries in the selection of video art and visualize a wider cultural diversity of expressions and forms. The purpose of the festival is to inspire the artistic and cultural environments in Norway and to stimulate the audiences’ consciousness of the world around.
The festival entry is free.
Submitted videos must have been completed after January 2010.
Running time 10 min maximum (we are flexible, send us an email if your film is longer).
Deadline is November 1st 2011.

All decisions are final.
Two awards of €1000 will be given.

International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. AAUW breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.
AAUW is one of the nation’s largest sources of private funding exclusively for educational programs that directly benefit women and girls. Every year AAUW awards fellowships and grants to more than 200 women. In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks diversity. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

The program provides support for one year of graduate or postgraduate study in the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. (Women holding dual citizenship in the U.S. and another country are not eligible.) Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by September 30, 2011, and preference is given to women who show prior commitment to the advancement of women and girls through civic, community, or professional work. Fellowships are available for study in the United States. A limited number of awards are available to women who are members of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW; see List of IFUW Member Organizations) for study or research in any country other than their own.

Up to six International Fellowships will be renewable for a second year; renewal instructions will be provided to fellows during their fellowship year. AWARD INFORMATION
Three award levels are available based upon the applicant’s degree program.

• Master’s/Professional Degree fellowships carry a stipend of $18,000 for the fellowship year.
• Doctoral fellowships carry a stipend of $20,000 for the fellowship year.
• Postdoctoral fellowships carry a stipend of $30,000 for the fellowship year.

To be eligible for an International Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Citizenship in a country other than the United States (dual citizenship is not allowed) or possession of a non-immigrant visa if residing in the United States
• Academic degree (earned in the U.S. or abroad) equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree completed by September 30, 2011
• Intention to devote herself full-time to the proposed academic plan during the fellowship year
• Intention to return to her home country to pursue a professional career
• Master’s/Professional and Doctoral applicants must have applied by December 1, 2011, to an accredited institution of study for the period of the fellowship year and must indicate the name of the institution in the International Fellowship application.
• Postdoctoral applicants must provide proof of their doctorate degree and must indicate where they will conduct their research.
• Enrollment in a U.S. institution located in the United States. A limited number of awards are available to IFUW members for study or research in any country other than their own. Note that foreign branches of U.S. institutions are considered outside of the U.S.
• Full year of study or research. International Fellowships do not provide funding for a partial year of study or research. Programs ending prior to April of the fellowship year are not eligible.
• Proficiency in English. Unless the applicant can verify that her native language is English, that she received her secondary diploma or undergraduate degree from an English-speaking institution, or that she will have completed one semester of full-time study in her discipline at an English-speaking college or university between October 2009 and September 30, 2011, she must submit a recent score on the International TOEFL.

The Henry Moore Institute is a world-recognised centre for the study of sculpture in the heart of Leeds. Research is central to the activities of the Institute. Through it, we aim to encourage research into sculpture both within our walls and without, acting as a hub to develop communities of research. Each year we offer a number of fellowships, enabling researchers of different backgrounds and disciplines to develop their work at the Institute.

The Henry Moore Institute invites applications for the following fellowship programmes in 2012–2013:

Research Fellowships are intended for artists, scholars and curators, working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to four fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to our resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to two senior fellowships, for periods of between four to six weeks will be offered.

The World of Art, school for curators and critics of contemporary art would like to offer to future curators, critics and all who are interested in working in the field of contemporary art experience and skills needed to deal with different aspects of the art world.

Due to increasingly complex program, aimed to allow participants to obtain a broader knowledge, the curriculum of this year is expanded. The first semester (November 2011 – June 2012) is focused on acquiring art-historical, theoretical and methodological knowledge and the second semester (September 2012 – April 2013) on curatorial and critical studies and testing in practice.

The school’s program includes a wide range of lectures, seminars, workshops, research work, curator practical work modules, study trips at home and abroad (a one-day excursion to Graz, Celje and Maribor) and a five-day excursion to Krakow and Zurich) as well as a traineeship in the galleries. The process consists of organising events, studio visits, meetings with curators, artists, theorists, writers and teamwork in conceptualisation and the exhibition of contemporary art under the mentorship.

A group of participants will be selected by tender. Anyone can submit an application, regardless of experience, age and education.

WAI (Westland Arts Inc.) is a voluntary group whose aim is to increase the awareness, enjoyment of, and participation in the arts in the region.One of the major projects is the annual Take-a-Seat Public Art Project, where the artists are invited to submit designs to build an artseat in Hokitika - in essence, a sittable sculpture.
The finalists produce scale models that are assessed by judges and exhibited for public voting. The winning designer is awarded a commission of up to $8000 to create and install the seat in the given location. Fundraising and sponsorship pays for the seat.
There are six artseats in town already; one is in the lane that links the town to the beach, three are along the central beachfront, and one is near the heritage area alongside the river promenade. Our next proposed site for 2012 is in front of the Library. Our aim is to have a number of these unique sculptures within the CBD that lead people out to the trail of artseats along the beach and the river, and along the Heritage Walkway on the periphery of town.

All artseats have been well received by locals and provide a special point of interest and photo opportunity for visitors. A positive spin-off has been the interest for other Artseats, such as the Teichelmann seat at the Carnegie Building commissioned by Heritage Hokitika in 2006. The Take-a-Seat project contributes to the cultural identity of Hokitika by providing a new piece of functional art for the town every year.

The Zabludowicz Collection is delighted to announce the second Zabludowicz Collection Curatorial Open, a major opportunity for curators to work with a contemporary art collection of international repute.
Continuing its commitment to working with artists and curators, the Zabludowicz Collection launched this annual initiative to encourage and support experimental curatorial practice. The Curatorial Open invites creative professionals to engage with the collection and propose a project for public exhibition and an accompanying publication and programme of events at 176 Prince of Wales Road to be realised in July and August 2012.

The Curatorial Open seeks to actively engage new voices in the discussion around works in the Zabludowicz Collection, encouraging points of view from a variety of disciplines and transcending the confines of contemporary art curating.

Applications are invited from all arts professionals between 1 August and 1 November. Successful proposals will be selected in December by Chris Dercon, Director of Tate Modern, Martin Herbert, Writer, Maria Lind, Director of Tensta Konsthall and Anita Zabludowicz, co-founder of the Zabludowicz Collection.
It is looking for proposals that demonstrate innovative ideas and ambition, and that include one or more of the artists represented in the collection.

—The Curatorial Open is an opportunity to realise proposals from a range of disciplines. We encourage collective applications as well as transdisciplinary proposals, partnerships and offsite projects.

—To be eligible, entrants must have previously realised at least two exhibitions or projects with contemporary artists or art, which were open to the public.

—Entrants must be over 25 years of age.

—Proposals must be submitted in English and must be for previously unrealised projects.

—First round proposals need not include specific works from the collection but should refer to artists in the collection.

—Written exhibition proposals should be up to 500 words outlining the concept or theme for the exhibition. They should contain a list of artists or works and explain the methodology for realising the exhibition.

—Applicants should note that up to four proposals will be selected for production and that the budget for the entire season is in the region of £40,000 to be divided among the projects if more than one is selected.

—Successful proposals will be developed in collaboration with the curatorial team at Zabludowicz Collection for exhibition at the space in London during July and August 2012.

—A number of meetings with the curatorial team at Zabludowicz Collection (in person or via video conferencing) will take place between February and June 2012, in the run-up to the installation.

—Candidates should be available during the period 15 June–6 July 2012 for the installation of projects at Zabludowicz Collection, London.

—A shortlist will be selected by the panel of judges in November 2011. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to develop their proposals, with access to the collection, for a second round of submissions to be judged in January 2012.

Responsibilities
- Propose and organize exhibitions for (inter)national tour that advance the museum's mission, vision and strategic direction.
- In charge of all curatorial tasks, including research, studying and publishing.

No, No, I Hardly Ever Miss a Showis a project about the public, that is also co-created by the public by giving people the possibility to comment on the exhibition scenario proposed.
A survey, created in cooperation with the sociologist Joanna Erbel, carried out amongst Zachęta’s spectators will investigate, amongst others, how the gallery, and its exhibitions and staff are perceived by visitors. Zachęta’s exhibition halls will become a space for an exchange of ideas and thoughts, both in a “traditional” way (lectures, discussions), as well as in an interactive manner (workshops, art interventions). The audience, who is the main protagonist of the exhibition, will be able to actively participate in the creation of the show by sharing its comments, manifesting its expectations and, finally, voting on issues regarding the construction of the exhibition and the popularity of an artwork. The exhibition will reveal the mechanisms through which the gallery operates. By becoming, to a certain degree self-referential, the exposition will demonstrate the processes involved in the preparation and running of an exhibition. Additionally, the project will also function as a study of the audience, conducted not only by means of surveys, interviews or publications, but also through the exhibition and its accompanying events. We hope to get a lively response and lots of feedback.

No, No, I Hardly Ever Miss a Show is a quote taken from a report concerning Zachęta and its public, produced this year by students of sociology, under the supervision of Mikołaj Lewicki, on the basis of a larger study regarding art galleries and their audience. This phrase, taken out of context, can be used to describe what seems to be an ideal viewer: one who is dedicated to the gallery to such an extent that he/she attends almost every exhibition. However, under the surface this viewer is nothing but a mere spectator, who makes no selection of what they see and does not engage in a more in-depth way in any of the art shows (this would be difficult given the number of exhibitions attended). This viewer comes to exhibitions purely for the sake of coming, always being a passive visitor and never an active participant.
This phrase also describes the situation of the curators who work on a full-time basis at the gallery and who therefore by definition are present at almost every exhibition in Zachęta. Thus they look at the expositions that take place here from a totally different, in-depth perspective.

We would also like to know how artists, who form a peculiar group of spectators, perceive us- the gallery. The peculiarity of artists is based on their duality, on the one hand they are creators and active participants, on the other, they can be also considered passive viewers. This is why we are announcing an Open Call – in which we invite artists to submit their artworks and projects together with a completed questionnaire. The elements comprising the exhibition No, No, I Hardly Ever Miss a Show will contribute to the image of the gallery and its public. The title phrase is the starting point for research into who really visits exhibitions at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art and how they do so.

Continuing its commitment to working with artists and curators, the Zabludowicz Collection launched this annual initiative to encourage and support experimental curatorial practice. The Curatorial Open invites creative professionals to engage with the collection and propose a project for public exhibition and an accompanying publication and programme of events at 176 Prince of Wales Road to be realised in July and August 2012. The Curatorial Open seeks to actively engage new voices in the discussion around works in the Zabludowicz Collection, encouraging points of view from a variety of disciplines and transcending the confines of contemporary art curating.

Applications are invited from all arts professionals between 1 August and 1 November.

This initiative builds upon the Zabludowicz Collection’s existing commitment to experimental curatorial practices, including previous projects with international curators and curating students such as The Library of Babel / In and Out of Place with Anna-Catharina Gebbers, Past-Forward with Vincent Honoré and the annual Testing Ground programme produced in collaboration with the MA curating students from the Royal College of Art and Goldsmiths College, London.

VILLA MARGUERITE YOURCENAR

The Villa Marguerite Yourcenar, Centre Départemental de Résidence d’Ecrivains Européens (Departmental Centre of Residence for European Writers), offers authors to stay for one or two months to enable them to write in a calm, peaceful and stimulating location, and to meet with audiences in the Nord during literary evenings, book fairs, school visits, bookshops, etc.

It is open to all types of literature (novels, short stories, poetry, theatre, essays, BD, children’s stories, etc). The Villa Marguerite Yourcenar is accessible to European authors who have already had one or more works published by a professional editor (editions published at the author’s expense are not taken into account) and wish to stay at the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar to finish a manuscript.

Works for university research (theses, didactic and scientific works, etc) are not included.

Location

The Villa Marguerite Yourcenar is located at Mont-Noir in the heart of the French Flanders, on the site of the former family property of the writer Marguerite Yourcenar (1903-1987). It belongs to the Conseil Général du Nord (France), as does the park that surrounds it. The departmental park and the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar (36 hectares) are located in the commune of Saint-Jans-Cappel on the Belgian border, between the towns of Bailleul (France, 6km away and with the nearest train station) and Ypres (Belgium, 15km). It is about forty kilometres from Lille via the A25 motorway.

Capacity and conditions of stay

Three writers can be housed simultaneously at the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar. Each one is allocated an office-bedroom with personal bathroom on the first floor.

A shared library, kitchen, computer room (with photocopier, printer and Internet access), television room and dining room are available to residents.

The Villa Marguerite Yourcenar provides resident writers with accommodation, breakfast and evening meals, except at weekends and Bank Holidays (telephone communications and lunch are at residents’ own expense).

Three bicycles and one car are at the residents’ disposal.

The Conseil Général du Nord will pay for one return trip home for each resident writer. The secretaress buys the tickets for the residents, they must not buy their tickets by themselves.

Resident writers will receive a grant of €60 for each day they are effectively present, amounting to 1,800 euros for a 30-day stay. The sum is transferred on the resident’s bank account about 60 days after the beginning of the stay.

In everyone’s interest, the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar is NON-SMOKING.

Animals are not allowed at the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar.

The Villa Marguerite Yourcenar promises to:
- submit all applications received within the set time to a jury of European literary experts
- inform successful candidates several months in advance that their application has been retained and of the dates they can stay at the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar
- organise a monthly meeting with the public of the Nord/Pas-de-Calais region
- encourage encounters with local culture, editors and translators, at the writer’s request

Writers-in-residence promise to keep to the following rules and conditions:
1. Writers-in-residence must spend the stay at the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar continuing or finishing their manuscript. They can give two periods of preference for their stay – the team at the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar will take this into account while organising the dates of stay according to studio availability – noting that the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar is closed in December, January, February and August
2. In the publication and in any further editions and translations of the work they have continued during their stay, they must promise to state a sentence similar to the following: “The author has benefited from a writer-in-residence place at the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar in order to write this book and received a writing grant from the Conseil Général du Nord”
3. Writers-in-residence must accept to take part in one or more meetings with the public during literary events at the Villa Marguerite or outside (school visits, book fairs, signing sessions in book shops, etc.)
4. They must accept that a collective work will be published by the Villa Marguerite Yourcenar, including one of their texts in relation to the theme of the volume
5. They must accept that information concerning them (biobibliography, extracts, etc) be put online on the website of the Conseil Général du Nord, under the heading Villa Marguerite Yourcenar

The annual Bremen Award for Video Art supports the production and
presentation of two video art projects. We welcome classical, linear,
audiovisual work and installations as well as ideas that challenge the
boundaries of video art.
Only as of yet unrealised projects are eligible for funding.

Awards:
1st Prize: 4,000 EUR
2nd Prize: 1,000 EUR

The prize money shall be used for the realisation of the artistic concept.
The finished works will first be exhibited in Bremen. Towards this
means, the Filmbüro helps to organise an exhibition of the award
winning works at the end of 2012. The exhibition will take place in
one of Bremen's prestigious museums or galleries.
Video artists from all German-speaking countries as well as those from
Bremen's twin cities (Bratislava, Cherbourg-Octeville, Corinto,
Dalian, Frederikshavn, Gdansk, Grimsby, Haifa, Izmir, Kaliningrad,
Pori, Riga, Szczecin and Pune) are invited to apply.

The jury will award one of the two prizes to an applicant from Bremen, Bremerhaven or their twin cities.
Applications must be submitted in German or English. Each applicant
may submit only one concept. The prizes will be awarded by an
independent jury.

Kunstwerk Carlshütte, a non-profit initiative of the ACO Group, and the towns of Büdelsdorf and Rendsburg, organises the NordArt, an annual international exhibition of visual arts from June to the beginning of October. The art exhibited at NordArt is selected by a jury and features all visual art media. The exhibition in summer 2011 displayed the work of 250 artists from 55 countries, selected from 1200 applications from 72 countries. Curator of NordArt: Wolfgang Gramm.
Exhibition area
The old foundry building in the Carlshütte (22,000 sqm), ACO Wagenremise (400 sqm), a 80,000 square metre sculpture park, as well as public spaces in the town.

NordArt-Prize:

The awardee will be annouced during „The Long Night of the Lights” in September and is invited to participate again in the following NordArt. The award ceremony will then take place at the opening of the following NordArt.

Public Choice Award:
The visitors of the NordArt can vote for their favourite artist. The Public Choice Award will be awarded during ‚The Long Night of the Lights‘ in September. The 1st Award is worth 1000 Euros. The three winners are invited to participate again in next years NordArt.

NordArt-Symposium:
Each year the exhibition is preceded by the highly respected international NordArt Symposium, bringing together different generations of artists to share experiences and make art – all reflecting the ethos of NordArt itself. Approximately 10 artists are invited to attend the symposium and create large works for the NordArt. If you wish to attend the symposium, please mark the “Symposium” box in the application form. For this application we require a project description with details on the materials and dimensions, estimated time required, photos with examples of works. The participants at the symposium enjoy free materials, a workplace and accommodation at the exhibition site itself. We are glad to announce the first submissions call for the official programme of the 8th ZagrebDox Documentary Film Festival to take place in Zagreb, Croatia from 26th February 2012 – 4th March 2012.
With over 20’000 visitors and 1000 film entries each year, as well as rapidly growing ZagrebDox Pro platform for industry professionals, ZagrebDox is the most important documentary film festival in SEE region and a popular meeting point for documentarists from all over the world.

The competition is open to documentary films of all durations produced within the last two years (2010 – 2011).

Sølyst was build in 1862. The small castle was originally used as a hunting logde; it was later occupied by a womens home, an orphanage and most recently a school.
Sølyst Artist in Residency Centre - SAIR - has been established by VAK -'The Art Worshops of West Sealand '. VAK is an important element in the SAIR programme because of their experience with artists working in the production of a broad range of mediums. The accomodation and working studios that SAIR offers artists during their residency gives those taking part the enriching opportunity of intercultural dialogue.

Inside the castle there is 15 furnished bedrooms, 1 large room for lectures and talks, common room, library,office, bathroom, kitchen, 2 shared computers and printer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, wireless internet connection and 3 bikes.

Paid by host:The visiting artists will be offered free accomodation at the Sølyst Castle; a private bedroom, a private studio, free acces to the VAK workshops and a monthly fee of 1342 euro.

Residence in Pollen, France 2012

Since 1991, Pollen has been welcoming young artists of all nationalites, enabling them to realize a specific project or else to pursue personal research. Pollen is neither an art school nor an art centre, but a platform for communication, exchange and experimentation, propitious to the development and fruition of a creative piece of work.
Pollen offers young artists the support required for this to take place. In addition to exposure in the official contemporary art network, artists will also be able to benefit from inter action with the local community of the “bastide” town of Monflanquin, and the wider territory of the Lot-et Garonne. There is also a programm of meetings and discussions with art critics and people in the art-word, as well as craftsmen and the local population, to help develop the ability of artists to communicate their vision and their experiences, and exhibitions to enable them to show their work to the public…
Pollen could be defined as an experimental art centre which allows young artists to investigate, to exchange visions and experience, to experiment with materials and space, and to bring contemporary art to a wider public.
During a residency period (March to Mai or September to November), 2 artists will be chosen to come to Pollen.

The “artists-in-residence in Monflanquin” scheme, provides a “testing ground” and a support system to provide assistance in matters technical and creative. It is an unusual programm, which sees the exhibition and the publication which mark the end of the residence, not as an aim but as a tool for the young artist.
Duration: 3 months (March to Mai or mid September to mid December)
Paid by host: Individual studio space, an apartment with facilities, and an allowance of 3600 euros over the three month period of residence.
Application Guidelines and Criteria
Artists are selected twice a year by a committee composed of members of the association and representatives of the cultural and art scenes.
Candidates interested in the scheme should send a portfolio, indicative of the evolution of their work and interests to Pollen. The portfolio should be accompanied by a CV and a letter of motivation. The compatibility of the two artists chosen for the residencies will be carefully considered. The portfolio can contain examples of works in all media (pictures, videos, audio-recordings, works on paper… ). It is advisable to include any support material presented electronically on CD, also in paper form, in order to avoid possible technical difficulties. A stamped addressed envelop should be included for the return of works after selection.

In keeping with its mission to promote the art of puppetry, the Institut International de la Marionnete commissions and encourages research in this field. The Institut opened the Villa d'Aubilly in 1996, thus equipping itself with the structure needed in its efforts to establish a specialist pole for research into puppets and puppetry.
The goal of the Villa d'Aubilly, the bursary centre at the International Institute of Puppetry, is to open opportunities for investigation and exploration entirely devoted to the art of puppetry. The bursary is open to researchers (university staff, critics, essayist, musicoligsts) and creators (writers, visual artists, composers, scenographers, etc. working on projects related to puppetry).
Research residencies
Residences are available to researchers, artists (writers, visual artists, composers, set designers) and students working on a bachelor’s or master’s degree or doctorate, both from France and abroad. They give full access to the holdings of the resource centre.

The Fogo Island Arts Corporation is a new contemporary art venue on the east coast of Canada.The Arts Corporation runs two distinct yet complementary programs, the Residency program and the Production program. Both programs encourage dialogue between visiting artists and local people to share experiences and perceptions.

The Fogo Island Arts Corporation's mission to bring together local communities and the international art scene is reflected in the accommodations and work space provided to Residency Program participants. Striking new studios are being built at locations across the island.
Living spaces are provided in refurbished traditional homes located in nearby communities on the island.
how to apply
Visual artists, curators, writers and filmmakers can apply for residencies on Fogo Island in 2012 – 2013. Residencies are from 3 to 6 months.
Visiting professionals are provided with a studio (work space) and a house to live in.Individuals selected to the program can apply for stipend to cover materials and living costs on the island and for travel (to and from Fogo Island only).

MoTA offers a living and working studio in the center of Ljubljana for artists who wish to participate in the self- directed residency program.
A shared interest in the topics relating to transitory art is desired, but not required. Self- directed residencies are not necessarily related to production of new work, but we do require a public presentation (artist talk) from the resident artist.
Facilities
MoTA residency studio has two rooms- a bedroom with two beds and a living room, a bathroom and a mini kitchen. The interior is basic and modest, but the studio location is in the heart of the old town, under the Ljubljana castle and next to the central market. MoTA does not provide meals for residents, but offers full support in getting around the city and other practicalities. MoTA is also happy to help with finding additional funding for projects. Artists who apply can live and work in the studio for a maximum of two months.
Technical Information
There are computers with internet connection in the apartment. We will help with finding any additional technical requirements.
Paid by artist
The residency studio is available for a fee of 350 euros including all costs. Artists must also arrange their travels, daily expenses and funding for their project, but we are happy to help with grants seeking at all times.

Since 2006 ÉCU has been Europe’s premier arena for independent filmmakers to screen their films to international audiences, to network with industry professionals and exchange ideas with other indie filmmakers. All taking place in an environment that fosters creativity and immense amounts of fun.

curated by_vienna is an ambitious project that commissions co-operations between Vienna’s leading contemporary art galleries and internationally renowned curators. Now in its third year, curated by_vienna 2011 will be held in 21 galleries throughout the city, opening on May 12 and running until June 18. Under the title EAST by SOUTH WEST, this year’s project takes as its starting point the importance and relevance of Vienna for Eastern and Southeastern European contemporary art and artists. 21 curators have been invited to develop special exhibitions for the participating galleries.

curated by_vienna 2011 is presented and funded by departure in cooperation with the 21 participating galleries. departure, the Creative Agency of the City of Vienna and a company of the Vienna Business Agency, is Vienna’s point of contact and funding organization in the field of creative industries including visual arts and the art market.

EAST by SOUTH WEST

The title of curated by_vienna 2011 describes a geographical conundrum — to be solved using the compass of contemporary art. This geographical aspect reflects Vienna’s status, at different moments in European history, as an advocate for culture and contemporary art from an expanded Eastern European space. The project hones on regional geography at a time, and in a world, largely governed by global mechanisms and ways of thinking.
The project’s intention is to investigate a wider understanding of Europe and its transformations since the countries formerly behind the Iron Curtain have returned to the heart of continental cultural and political life and since Turkey has been engaged in multilateral discourse.
21 internationally renowned curators, who have a track record of working with artists from Eastern and Southeastern Europe, have been invited to develop special exhibitions for 21 leading galleries in Vienna. The project highlights the many points of cultural contact that Vienna has with the cities and states that the participating curators hail from and are making exhibitions about, including: Bucharest and Cluj/Romania, Istanbul/Turkey, Krakow and Warsaw/Poland, Ljubljana/Slovenia, Moscow/Russia, Prague/Czech Republic, Riga/Latvia, Sofia/Bulgaria, Tallinn/Estonia, Vilnius/Lithuania, Zagreb/Croatia.

The participating curators span three generations and present a range of exhibitions that delve into the historical formations of art made in the territories being examined; consider the work of some of the most influential artists of the periods of radical experimentation and protest associated with the various anticommunist undergrounds; as well as assay new artists, new trends, and new conceptual and critical developments impacting upon the international contemporary art scene.
Experienced as a whole curated by_vienna 2011: EAST by SOUTH WEST will enable audiences to chart intersections, connections, and diversions across the expanse of the exhibitions and the sociopolitical geography they encompass — presented in Vienna.

"Portraits and Self-Portraits in Private Collections"

The exhibition at Knoll Gallery is based on a survey of art collecting in Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, and Romania, showcasing approximately thirty artworks on loan from private art collections in these countries. Offering amazing insights, the exhibition has two objectives: firstly, to present various artistic forms of expression and representation and to show how certain emotions are conveyed; and secondly, to highlight new perspectives in art collecting, considering that establishing an art collection is also an act of self-representation.
In many cases contemporary art from the East sails to the West. This time the opportunity to frame Eastern and Southeastern European art is presented by Vienna, certainly a one-of-a-kind city in Europe, a quintessential place for the diffusion of contemporary art.
Despite these turbulent times, the art market is continuously expanding, and more and more frequently the rainfall of contemporary discourse emphasizes the new prospects in the emerging markets. Alongside loans from prominent private collections, the exhibition includes artworks from young collectors, and it aims to draw attention to the phenomenon of art collecting in these countries. With a focus on Romanian private collections, the exhibition presents a selection of works by the most renowned Romanian artists on an international scale, but also some works by young, emerging artists, comprising mostly paintings, drawings, and photographs and offering a daring sample of recent art collections.

Stop & Go 3-D,Call for Submissions

Stop & Go is a program of innovative stop-motion animations by contemporary visual artists and filmmakers, touring and screening internationally since 2008.
The program showcases animations that use stop-motion techniques to explore visual language, tell stories and make poignant social commentaries.

New animation work is being sought for the third installment of the program called Stop & Go 3-D . The program will screen hand-rendered stereoscopic and anaglyphic experiments that explore traditional 3-D animation produced using stop-motion. Animations that experiment with geometrical elements, pieces that are highly optical or those that comment on the current 3-D craze will also be reviewed.

Please note that stop-motion techniques must constitute a significant portion of the work. Both narrative and experimental works will be accepted to this program. The audience will view most of the show through bi-colored red and blue spectacles.

Entry of materials:

The animation’s total running time must not exceed 10 minutes. All entries must be produced in 2008 or later. If your animation is not in English, please provide English language subtitles. Artists must secure all copyrights to the work including any musical soundtracks.

Send entry submissions on a DVD-NTSC disc—please, no PAL discs. If your submission is accepted, a data-file format DVD or Mini-DV tape will be required for inclusion in the master-screening reel. Each submitted work should be labeled with the title of the piece, running time, name of project director and contact information. Please do not put stickers on the DVDs.

Fees & Costs:
There is no entry fee to submit your work to Stop & Go. All costs for mailing the materials to Stop & Go are at the expense of the participant. Discs will be returned only if a self-addressed envelope and appropriate postage cost is enclosed. If no SASE is enclosed, then it is understood that Stop & Go may keep the disc for their library. Stop & Go does not take responsibility for any loss or damage of the work during shipment. Please do not send original copies.

Tour:
The last two installments of the show, Stop & Go and Stop & Go Rides Again, toured extensively, including venues in the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Israel and Croatia. Stop & Go 3-D will embark on a similar tour, to begin in 2012, and will travel until 2014. By submitting this signed form with entry materials the artist agrees to these terms.

ORGANIZING COMMITTEE OF INTERNATIONAL TRIENNlAL OF CERAMICS UNICUM 2012 within ZDSLU (Association of the Slovene Fine Arts Societies) and in cooperation with European Cultural and Technological Centre (EKTC) Maribor is setting up II. International Triennial of Ceramics Unicum 2012 and parallel events all over Slovenia. The emphasis is on popularization as well as presentation of contemporary ceramics as an independent area in the field of artistic creation. Triennial is connection between international and Slovene space and it gives fresh insight into artistic ceramics. Its intention is to search through elementary artistic research in connection with contemporary though; the character of contemporaneity is given by individualism, development of personal artistic language and enriched by traditional influences of old technologies.

II. International Triennial of Ceramics Unicum 2012 contains competitive part and accompanying events and exhibitions.

European Cultural and Technological Centre Maribor will host competitive part of the triennial as well as the international exhibition of ceramics of students from Art Schools and Academies chosen by invited mentors.

Call for applications is international and public.

Any individual artist or group of artists who work in this media (ceramics) may participate in the II. International Triennial of Ceramics Unicum 2012.

Members of the organizing committee, international jury and invited authors are not allowed to take part in the competitive part of triennial. Each participant is allowed to submit up to three entries among which the international jury will make the selection.

Artworks without any ceramic techniques, technologies or approaches will be rejected. Ceramic artworks can include other materials which must not predominate.

By applying the artist assures that each ceramic artwork was created within last three years.

Costs of sending and returning artworks are author’s responsibility.

Applications

Applications to the competitive part of triennial with all documentation required should be sent via post or by e-mail.

Each author has to deliver:
- Correctly filled entry form;
- Three photographs of each ceramic artwork in required format and quality for printing.

All photos should be in JPG or TIF format, 300 dpi and marked as on the entry form.

With application each author also allows the organizer to use all information from received documentation for promotion and the catalogue of the triennial.

The organizer of the triennial does not take any responsibility for published information given by the authors in the application. The author is taking full responsibility for correctness of the information about him/her and his/her artwork.

The organizer will not return the material that will be sent with applications. All the material will be kept in the archives of the triennial as a part of applications documentation.

Artworks which will be selected on the base of received photographs authors can not exchange or replace with other artworks. Selection of artworks and notification

International jury will select artworks from received photographs in December 2011.
List of selected authors will be announced on the web side of the triennial.

Awards and recognitions

Awards and recognitions will be conferred at the opening of exhibition.

The organizer will assure the setting up, protection and insurance of the exhibition in European Cultural and Technological Centre Maribor, 2000 Maribor, Slovenia. In case of any damage of artworks during the exhibition authors are entitled to financial compensation up to the value of artwork declared in the application form.

Promotion

Along with the exhibition of II. International Triennial of Ceramics Unicum 2012 there will be printed catalogue of the selected artworks and other promotion material. Authors of selected artworks will receive the catalogue free of charge.

The municipality of Lochristi and the Council for Culture, AIESM agent for Belgium Thierry Lauwers are inviting foreign artists, sculptors for a monumental work to be realized in the centre of town in the presence of a large public interest.
This from Friday 27 April (Arrival and Opening Ceremony) until Monday 7 May (Departure) 2012.
The material is wood and chatarra (metal scrap). The use of motor chainsaw is prohibited, only electric chainsaw will be allowed due to proximity of the houses. The use of grinders and other electric power machines are allowed. The sculptors will bring their own tools. Electric 230 V 16 Amp and compressor for cleaning tools will be on the working site. Check your electric connection on internet for compatibility. Chatarra artists will have welding equipment and electrode at their disposal. The material will be collected at a recycling firm for metal the first day.
Wood height 2.30 meter x diameter 50 cm, chatarra height 2 meter.
Working hours are from 08.30 hr until 13.00 hr and from 14.30 hr until 18.00 Hr. The artist is to be on the site during these hours. Working later is allowed, earlier not. Refreshments on the site, each artist will receive tickets for consummations daily.
Free day and excursion to Ghent, the Museum of Contempory Arts (SMAK) and the Museum of Fine Arts are on Wednesday 2 May.
Visit of the local Museum for Florists and the greenhouses one afternoon.
At the same time the Municipality is organizing “Kunst Omdat het Moet”, (Art because we must), this means, exposition, music and performance in the evenings. We will join in evenings after supper. Also come and meet in the nearby café. The exposition is for local artists only. You can sell small work if you want on the site only. If you do please to use certificate.
The work will be done in all weather conditions. A cover for rain and sun will be on the place for each artist in the form of party tent 3 x 3 meter.
Artists need their own personal medical insurance, and Third Party Insurance.
The application language is English.
A fee of 500 Euro will be paid for every sculptor who realized his work in time and in accordance to his proposal.
Tickets will be refunded 200 Euro for residents in Europe and Turkey. Up to 500 Euro for the rest of the world.
There is no specific theme for this event. Only the Jury will be composed from a broad cultural base, and Lochristi is world-famous for his flowers especially azalea and begonia. Figurative art is I suppose the best guide. Nobody will stop you to try in non figurative of course. It’s just a tip.

The sixteenth edition of MiArt, International Modern and Contemporary Art Fair to be held in Milan from 8th to 11th April at fieramilanocity, presents top international artists through one hundred galleries of prestige: a collection of all that's best in art from the early 20th century up to most recent experiments.
Wandering through the various stands, it's possible to piece together the past, to rebuild a history of ideals regards artistic expression via the activities of the gallery.
The historical sector is a tour through incredible arts of work, kicking off with the masters from the 1900s (Balla, Boccioni, de Chirico … and also Chagall, Klee, Ernst, Mirò, Picasso …) and moving through the various movements which made up the bases of Arte Povera and then on to the innovative styles of the 1970s and onwards.
From shape, to its redefinition: a reflection that brings together the Milanese group from "Il Milione" art gallery and the artists from Como, Manlio Rho and Radice, creating an Italian abstraction, but also constituting the vast successive movement of the "Informale". The collage pictures of Dubuffet, Tapies and Burri and be traced back to this, as can the spatial designs of Fontana and his followers, and the sign art of Capogrossi. And indeed, the experimentation of the Roman group including Vedova, Corpora and Dorazion and also Consagra, Sanfilippo and Accardi.

Kinetic art is well-represented too, from Colombo, Biasi and Alviani.
Also present, personalities less definable according to specific trends: including Uncini, Spagnulo, Marca-Relli and Lucien Freud. And then there is the Pop Art and décollage from Rotella and Villeglè.
The Arte Povera therefore, marks the transition from the historical sector to the contemporary one, with the Transavantgarde and Conceptual Art, the Fluxus movement and the neo-impressionists, above all the German ones, who are still a source of inspiration for the artists closer to home.

The artist research of the young artists as Tuttofuoco, Caravaggio, Cuoghi, Meese, Di Lillo is present in a significantly way.

Both installation and classic art continue to have a privileged position above all amongst artists such as Durhan, Hempel, Camoni, Garutti, Beecroft and Airò. Whilst video is represented by artists such as Bajevic, Paci, Welz, Husni-Bey, Alterzioni Video and photography by the works of Mir, Vedovamazzei, Basilico, Kulik and Benvenuto.
And as well as all this, a series of initiatives inside and out of the fair, organised with public and private bodies for the promotion of contemporary art: Rotary Club Milano Brera sponsors the third edition of the Rotary Award for contemporary art and young artists.

On the evening of 9th April, in collaboration with NABA Art Academy who host the event, MiArt presents "100 di 50", a big historic and contemporary event on performance art.

Organised by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio and Marco Scotini, it is centred around live and documentary material (photos, videos, drawings) of a huge number of performances from the Sixties to today.
In fact "100 di 50" will stage 100 performances that have contributed to the history of contemporary art in the past 50 years. The aim is to demonstrate that an art form by nature temporary has managed to make the ephemeral into something long-lasting.

"100 di 50" endeavours to represent 5 decades of art during which the possibilities of performance art fascinated not only the art world, but also other areas of impor-tance to Milan and the world, such as design, architecture and fashion. The 100 performances from the past 50 years will touch on all fields of expression, with artists including Abramovic, Sehgal, Ondak, Maloberti, Berti, Beuys, Baldessarri, Kounellis, Ontani, Pettena, Mendini, Brown, Beecroft, Acconci, Pistoletto, Pane, Maiolino and Raskin.
So MiArt is not only an excellent art fair, but also promoter of events involving all components of the system: artists, gallery owners, collectors, curators, critics, museum directors, institutions and specialised press and bookshops.
The common aim of all activities is to offer a series of promptings and thoughts on the shape of art to come, on future lines of research, with as starting point the excellence of the present market.

From 10 to 13 February 2011 the stunning departure hall of the Holland America Line is the set for the twelfth edition of Art Rotterdam, the international fair to discover emerging talent. Seventy galleries from home and abroad present their most daring artists.
International field of participants
Next to the absolute best in Dutch galleries, that were already present for number of years, a strong participation of foreign galleries sticks out (40% of all participants). Notable also this year is the quantity of excellent Belgian galleries. Besides the emerging galleries,already present for a few years, the 2011 edition also presents the well- established Belgian galleries like f.e. Galerie Catherine Bastide, Galerie Micheline Szwajcer and Stella Lohaus Gallery.From Great Britain eight young galleries will be present, galleries that are truly among the most promising of the island.Art Rotterdam is delighted to welcome Gallery Plan B, at this moment the most important gallery in Romania.
Navid Nuur focused artist
Art Rotterdam proudly presents one of the most important emerging talents of this moment, Dutch conceptual artist Navid Nuur (1976), asfocused artist . On a central location at the fair Nuur shows his work ‘Distant relations between lovers could fail by the lack of your true focus’. This work is about the relation between artists and public commercial art places, like f.e. magazines, catalogues and art
fairs.The print work of the fair is an integral part of the artwork, as well as the participation of the visitor,from whom Nuur expects an interactive role.
Film programme in NAi pavilion
During the fair at the site of the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) a temporary pavilion designed and build, from demolition materials from the rebuilding of the NAi, by Kaleb de Groot will open.
In this pavilion films will be shown of video artists that are represented by galleries on Art Rotterdam. Next to that films of the award winners of the Princess Margriet Routes Awards 2011 will be shown. This award is given annually in celebration of the achievements of artists, activists and thinkers who
make an outstanding contribution to discourse on cultural diversity in Europe.
This year’s laureates are: filmmaker and contemporary artist Kutlug Ataman [1961, Istanbul] and artist Sejla Kamerid [1976, Sarajevo].
Object Rotterdam
Simultaneously with Art Rotterdam, in the (opposite) building Las Palmas, Object Rotterdam will take place. At this international fair for autonomous design twenty participants present unique or limited edition objects in the field of current design, crafts and jewelry. Object Rotterdam exposes the cutting edge between art and design and is the place to experience the latest developments.

1974 immediately after the international art fairs in Cologne and Basel. Over the decades, it has become one of the most important events on the international contemporary art scene.
Founded as the first art fair in Italy, Arte Fiera generated increased enthusiasm for contemporary art in a country that had previously shown moderate interest in and given little importance to contemporary artistic research. The event demonstrated an ability to highlight new developments in the Italian and international art scene and immediately became renowned for the high quality of the participating galleries.

These included the major U.S. galleries such as Leo Castelli and Ileana Sonnabend, John Weber, Sidney Janis and Holly Solomon, many of the leading European galleries such as Jan Krugier, Ronald Feldman, Galerie Maeght and Nigel Greenwood as well as the prominent Italian ones such as the historic Neapolitan galleries of Lucio Amelio and Lia Rumma, Marconi and Gianferrari from Milano and Christian Stein and Tucci Russo from Turin.
Aiming to offer a high-quality program of artists and artistic trends right from the outset, Arte Fiera presented the works of the leading figures in the avant-garde movements, from Pop Art to Arte Povera, from Conceptual to Transavanguardia, from Minimal to the return to painting and contemporary trends. At the same time, it made on-going efforts to promote young artists and the latest research, an element that has set it apart from other international shows.
In 2005, Arte Fiera changed its name to “Arte Fiera Art First” to highlight its dual nature as the first event in the annual calendar and the ideal venue for discovering the latest trends in the contemporary art scene, with a focus both on established artists and the new generation.
Arte Fiera has also given extensive coverage to the historic masters of the twentieth century, from the beginning of the century through the 1950s, with a selection of paintings and sculptures of great interest not only for private collectors but also for art galleries.
The halls of Arte Fiera, designed in the late 1960s by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange and subsequently by Leonardo Benevolo and Pier Luigi Cerri, have undergone continual restyling to make the show increasingly appealing to the growing numbers of visitors. In 2009, a new hall joined the existing structures to create an exhibition lay-out on a single level.
In 2004, Silvia Evangelisti was appointed Artistic Director after working as a consultant for the event since 1988.
As a result of the extensive program of cultural initiatives that have taken place over the various editions of the show, Arte Fiera has become not only the most important show in Italy and among the most influential on the international art scene, but it has also evolved into an extraordinary cultural event. Each year, the exhibition center hosts meetings with artists and other well-known figures as well as conferences and academic forums addressing the most current themes in contemporary art.
As a matter of fact, Arte Fiera was among the first in breaking ground by bringing topical cultural events to the exhibition itself. One noteworthy example is the “International Performance Weeks” of 1977 and 1978 in which the most renowned world-class performers took part, from Marina Abramovic and Ulay to Hermann Nitsch, Renate Bertlmann, Robert Kushner and Vito Acconci. There were several top-notch Italian performers as well, such as Gina Pane, Giuseppe Chiari, Vincenzo Agnetti, Luigi Ontani and Vettor Pisani. Further, in 1978, there was the exhibit “Photography: Trends from 1955” under the curatorship of Harry H. Lunn.
Recent editions of Arte Fiera have seen great cooperation with the city of Bologna for the events held during the show. These include: “Bologna Art First,” an initiative that since 2005 has showcased contemporary art installations in buildings and outdoor spaces in the historic center; “Arte Fiera Off” that since 2007 has hosted numerous artistic events in public and private spaces both in the city and in other venues in the region of Emilia Romagna, and last but not least, since 2008“Art White Night” that transforms the streets and squares of Bologna into a major contemporary art venue throughout the evening.
Bologna, an old university city renowned for having one of the largest mediaeval town centers in Italy, welcomes “Arte Fiera Art First” visitors to enjoy its world-famous hospitality.

The 35th edition of Arte Fiera Art First was an enormous success with the public as well as with collectors and professionals.Over 31,000 visitors, well-known faces in collecting and culture, attended the opening on 27 January,plus over 200 galleries: positive results for Italy’s largest modern and contemporary art exhibition,which opens the year and sets the course for the market.
2011 Report on the art market – Focus on the modern and contemporary art market (edited by Nomisma and presented at Arte Fiera 2011),which emphasised the economic importance (2010 turnover in Italy estimated at 158 million Euros)of a market that involves traditional collectors as well as a growing number of art lovers entering the market for the first time.
For these new collectors, Arte Fiera is the ideal occasion to get their bearings among the market’s many possibilities: a unique opportunity to network and increase their contacts. In this regard, the general opinion on the quality of contacts made during the exhibition is unanimous: both young galleries and modern and contemporary galleries made numerous contacts that will form an important starting point for future work.
Arte Fiera Art First 2011 was also a success thanks to BolognaFiere’s ability to involve international collectors and to promote a series of events which, every year, make the city an art capital that attracts art lovers from all over the world.

Maurice Lacroix Art Award for NEW CONTEMPORARIES - international spotlight on young galleries

Traditionally the section of NEW CONTEMPORARIES is the place to make unusual and exciting discoveries: for this year‘s ART COLOGNE 40 young international galleries have been selected by the Advisory Board to present positions from their programme. The section is designed to foreground less-established galleries with a forward looking agenda to promote emerging art. It provides the young enterprises with a top-flight platform to present their programmes to an international public. Each newcomer will be allocated a 30 square meter exhibition stand. The presentation is supported by Maurice Lacroix, our partner in making the NEW CONTEMPORARIES section possible. The 45th ART COLOGNE will open its doors from 13th to 17th April 2011. This year,Arte Fiera Art First celebrates its 35th edition,to be held in Bologna from 28 to 31 January 2011. One of the first international modern and contemporary art fairs organized in Italy in the 1970s, Arte Fiera has gradually become Italy’s largest and most important art fair. Every year, this must-see event is the first exhibition devoted to modern and contemporary art, and attracts gallery owners,collectors, curators, artists, and art lovers from Italy and around the world.
Aware of the new function that art fairs have assumed on the art market, Arte Fiera Art First has maintained its role of showcase and continues to cultivate and promote Italian and international art from the early 20 Century right up to the latest trends, while progressively increasing synergy with local institutions thanks to a programme of high-level collateral events.
More than 200 galleries are present in the Bologna Exhibition Centre’s 15,000 square metres, divided into three sectors (modern art, contemporary art, and latest trends), with an emphatically international section reserved to Young Galleries with not more than five years of activity.

The Art Talks space presents the roundtable entitled Art Education Programs‚ organized by IACCCA (International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art), which has chosen Arte Fiera Art First as the ideal occasion to introduce itself to Italy and to discuss various forms of art education that corporations with collections of contemporary art now promote and offer to their employees. Speakers include: Jacqueline D'Amencourt of LHOIST Group (Belgium), Janina Vitale of DZ Bank, Frankfurt (Germany), and Aline Pujo of Fondation Neuflize Vie (France), who will discuss the subject with moderator Walter Guadagnini of Unicredit Group (Italy).
Arte Fiera Art First also presents two important Prizes dedicated to young artists: The Vth edition of the Euromobil Under 30 Prize - main sponsor of Arte Fiera Art First – addressed to young artists represented by galleries at Arte Fiera and selected by a jury of critics and professionals. This year’s winner will be announced in the “I luoghi dell'arte,I luoghi del design” space. The VIIIth edition of Furla Prize, the Italian prize recognized as a fundamental stepping stone for Italian artists to embark on an exchange from abroad, with the cooperation of Arte Fiera organizes a roundtable at the Fair with the participation of its five finalists and the Italian and foreign curators who selected them. The patron artist of this edition is Christian Boltanski, who created the graphic image and the motto Pleure qui peut, rit qui veut. Every day, the Art Cafe Space, in cooperation with Corraini Edizioni, offers meetings and presents art books and catalogues. Critics, artists, publishers, and gallery owners discuss various aspects of the art world by means of the latest publications.
IN THE CITY
During the four days of Arte Fiera, Bologna becomes an ideal setting that alternates between past and present. From 28 January to 27 February 2011, Arte Fiera and the City of Bologna, in one of Italy’s best- conserved medieval historical centres, present the 6 edition of Bologna Art First, entitled If one winter’s day a traveller, curated by Julia Draganovic. This a unique path that each visitor will experience as an intimate voyage to discover old buildings and historical places by means of site-specific installations, created by both well-known and rising Italian and foreign artists at galleries at the Fair, that dialogue with the memory of important symbols of the city. ARTE FIERA OFF presents numerous events in the city: at MAMbo, the European preview of American artist Matthew Day Jackson’s personal exhibition In search of…; at Palazzo Pepoli (one of the historical buildings of Fondazione Carisbo), Pleure qui peut, rit qui veut, with works by the five finalists of the 8th edition of the Furla Prize (29 January - 6 February 2011); in the Aula Magna di Santa Lucia (Great Hall of Santa Lucia) Lady performance a meeting with Marina Abramovic, promoted by the Alma Mater Studiorum in collaboration with Arte Fiera,in which the artist will personally comment the Italian preview projection of the film Seven Easy Pieces, seven famous historical performances of renowned contemporary artists, considered one of the principal events of solo show recently dedicated to the artist at MoMA in New York (Friday, January 28 2011); at the Salone del Podesta in Palazzo Re Enzo, Happy Tech - Machines with a human face: a show of art+science that explores our relationship with new technologies, sponsored by Fondazione Marino Golinelli and curated by Giovanni Carrada and Cristiana Perrella; in the Spazio Carbonesi, Svoboda, curated by Daria Khan: a collective show of contemporary Russian art that investigates the concept of freedom in Russia by means of site-specific works by eleven artists; lastly, at the Basilica di Santo Stefano, a show dedicated to Shozo Shimamoto, one of the founders of the Gutai group, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva.
Arte Fiera’s cooperation with the city’s institutions is confirmed with the “Grow with art” project, a weekend at MAMbo organized during the Fair by the Museum’s Education Department. This project offers children and teenagers a “hands-on” experience with contemporary art and its languages.
On Saturday 29 January, Bologna changes the colour of the night with the third edition of Art White Night, as the historical centre is invaded by contemporary art: the installations of Bologna Art First, as well as museums, art galleries, and shops, will stay open until midnight.

Werkleitz annually supports up to four media and film projects by German or foreign artists. The grant includes free access to the Werkleitz Media Lab’s technical equipment for a period of up to 30 (production) days.

Project proposals may be submitted at any time by e-mail to info(@)werkleitz.de or regular mail. Processing the application can take about 14 days.To apply for the project support it is advantageous to present your project as extensively as possible. A script/ description of the project, curriculum vitae, crew and cast list, images as well as a reference project (DVD or URL) may be helpful for our decision.

Since 2005, the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York has established a vibrant residency program that has hosted over 40 artists and their collaborators, spanning theater, dance, music, video, and installation. While EMPAC will continue its open call residency program, we are pleased to announce four additional focused initiatives:
Audio Production / Post‐Production
For sound recording, development of multichannel sound works, documentation, mastering, mixing, film scoring, or any other task involving microphones, speakers, consoles, and computers.
Creative Research
Provides artists, writers, and theorists with the opportunity to conduct research over extended periods of time (minimum six weeks).
Dance / Theater
To rehearse, workshop, or finalize a production. Provides a group of up to six individuals a two‐week rehearsal period in a 3,300 sq. ft. black box space with full production support.
Video Production / Post‐Production
For multiple camera shoots, documentation of a performance, development of multichannel video projection, digital video post‐production, or any project involving HD video cameras, computers, and projectors.
EMPAC’s unique facilities offer four major venues including a Concert Hall, Theater, and two black box Studios, in addition to artists in residence studios and a state of the art infrastructure.
To apply, please include a letter of intent, a project description, a resume or CV for all major collaborators, as well as works, samples, and other supporting materials. Proposals are reviewed by EMPAC curators four times a year. Upcoming reviews will take place on January 14, April 15, July 15, and October 15. In general, residencies are scheduled six months to one year in advance.

CYLAND is a new international media art lab organized by St.Petersburg branch of National Center for Contemporary Art (St.Petersburg, Russia) and St.Petersburg Arts Project (New York, USA).
CYLAND was established in order to provide new media artists with technical, programming, financial and administrative aid and assistance in realizing advanced media art projects.
CYLAND is an equipped creative space for co-operation of artists, engineers, technicians, programmers, etc. in their work on video, media, cyber and net art and other art projects dealing with new technologies.
CYLAND is located in NCCA's art residency in the town of Kronstadt (on Kotlin island) 40 km from Saint Petersburg. Kronstadt art residency provides and opportunity for artists from many countries to live and work in Kronstadt within the framewaork of international exchange programs, as well as on individual basis.
Application process
Applications are accepted via e-mail (see e-mail address in the Application Form below). CYLAND jury will review your application within 2 months' period after the application is received.Authors of approved projects will receive an invitation to come in CYLAND Multimedia Lab (Kronstadt Art residency of NCCA) for implementation of their project.Also, support without accommodation in the residency is possible.
Upon implementation of a project, a presentation/exhibition is organized.

Stichting KiK- AIR program invites all interested parties in the fields of fine art, design, architecture, photography, multimedia, site specific theatre or performance art to submit their projects to their residential programme.

The former dairy factory in which KiK is located, provides an opportunity to the artist in residence to work and live at an extraordinary place given its industrial heritage. The studio, the guest accommodations and the comprehensive 'Kaashal' (a large hall in which cheese used to be processed) with its corresponding cellar are great exhibition spaces, all evoke a fierce industrial atmosphere. For the artists this lends a powerful support to push and intensify their work and process.

An open, adventurous mentality characterizes KiK. The same spirit is reflected in choosing candidates for the AIR program.

The industrial space and its environment require enterprising and independent artists who will value a concentrated stay in a very quiet place. The village of Kolderveen consists all in all, of a single street.

The ultimate duration of the residence, ranging from one to three months, will be agreed upon in consultation between the artist and the foundation. A monthly stipend and a work budget will be paid to the resident, under the condition that the artist lives and works at KiK for the entirety of his or her residency period.
National and international artists working in the disciplines of fine art, design, architecture, photography, multimedia, site specific theatre or performance art, among others, are hereby invited to apply.

The quality of an artist's work is the most important basis for choosing participants. A project proposal must be accompanied by a feasible work plan, relevant and up to date documentation and the application form. Please fill in our online application form and add the requested information.
KiK and the artist(s) in residence take on an added responsibility to show the result of their work period in a presentation. This could be an exhibition or another effective form. The nature of the presentation will be decided upon together with the artistic leader. The artist must also undertake a public activity, such as giving a work shop, a reading or lecture.

Venice, September 2, 2010 - Yesterday during the opening of the thirteenth edition of the OPEN, in the evocative location of San Servolo island,was nomenee the winner of the Special Prize Arte Laguna.
Alberto Gianfreda,artist Fine Art Accademy of Brera,has been awarded from the eclectic French artist Orlan.Alberto Gianfreda has the possibility to be one of the finalists of Arte Laguna Prize 2010 and he has also the opportunity to exhibit in the Italian network of Italian and international art galleries partners of the
association.
Igor Zanti, curator of the Arte Laguna Prize, explain this jury choice:
"We have chosen to awarded the Alberto Gianfreda work for the interesting use of recycled materials and the strong sense of morphological adaptation of the installation, establishing a dialogue and exchange with the surrounding environment. It gives an effect of creation, closely linked to the physical space where the
sculpture is set and it reveals a richness of meanings that brings situationist experiences as typical research of historical evolution of land art. "
This is only the first stage of the important collaboration between the Arte Laguna Prize and OPEN,the International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations, which is held every year in Venice during the Venice International Film Festival. synergy between Arte Laguna and OPEN,two organizations engaged in discovering and promoting new emergent artists, produces a threefold opportunity for artists participating in the Arte Laguna Prize.

For the 2010,OPEN invited to exhibit in Venice from the 1st September to the 3rd October- Theodore Reeves-Evison,Olga Schigal and the duo Dario Tironi – Koji Yoshida, the four young sculptors chosen from the finalists of the Arte Laguna Prize 2009 they proposed the three new works for this event.
For the 5th edition of International Art Prize Arte Laguna, deadline 16th November 2010, the Special Prize "OPEN" will be assigned to two of the sculpture section finalists, in this way they will have the opportunity to participate in the fourteenth edition of OPEN to be held in September 2011.The International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations OPEN-conceived and curated by Paolo De Grandis, co-curated by Carlotta Scarpa, Arte Communications - now into its thirteenth edition. Thirty-six artists are measured with spaces in Lido and San Servolo island in Venice to define the place both physical and mental,suggestive residue in
personal memory and collective experience,opening each year for the viewer to a new path in the contemporary art world, a new open air setting and a new reflection on the art languages.
